I had a Bulldog 44 Special that I foolishly sold. Having regretted it ever since, I decided it was time to rectify my stupidity.
Today, I ordered a 4.2" Target model gun from Buds. I know this isn't the high class guns usually posted on here. But, the extreme performance I have been getting from the Matt's wadcutter bullets has made me revisit this thought.
With the adjustable sights and light 20 oz gun, I am thinking not a bad carry gun for bumming around the woods where I live.

Encore had a light weight 396 about the same weight and anything over 200 grains at 850 got quite lively! The CA has passable accuracy and a rubber grip might be in order.
I just received from Matts Bullets some 215 grain WCs that I want to shoot in an N and L frame 44 Special do you have any load data? Looked on his sight and didn't find any. Interesting design though. 850-900fps seems like a good speed for this bullet, a bit wary about how to get there!

The Charter Arms (New guns) are proving to be quite accurate. They also now come with Rubber grips. Actually, my old CA was accurate, but the fixed sights made regulation of different loads difficult.
I used the Matt's 250 grn wadcutter bullets because they don't seat very deep in the case. This helps with a very forgiving pressure curve.
I would start with around 6.0 grns of Unique if I was using those bullets. Data for the 44 Special is very easy to find.

Have always been curious about the Target models. Someone here whacked a hog with theirs. My SS 3" is in my fleece vest pocket as usual right now. I seem to alternate between Penns 185gr DEWC w/7grs of Unique, and Matts 250gr HP w/6grs of Unique. Since Speer dropped their 3/4 jacketed 225HP, my favorite jacketed bullet has been the 200gr XTP. I do believe Encore is onto something though. Going further down the path, so to speak.

I'm another who likes the Bulldog. Let us know how it shoots when you get it to the range.

Picked the gun up today and favorably impressed for the price.
Perfect .431" throats, tight barrel gap and good trigger in single action.
Will shoot soon and report.

Well, as I added to my original post, I don't expect this gun to compete with my FA97s. But, believe it to be a lightweight companion scouting about my property.
However, I do appreciate any prayers and crossed fingers. I will post after I try it out.

Ezekiel38 mentions the bullet I'd like to try next for the Bulldog. Matt's 215WC.. Guess I'd start with 6grs of Unique or equivelant.

Encore: what is the weight on that Target Bulldog? Also are the sights propietary or some vendor? Awaiting targets and a report!

The weight is 22.4 oz on my scale. Sights are simple adjustable proprietary or seem to be. I plan to test it out tomorrow.

I forget atm his real name...? BigBore44

Shot about 2-2 1/2" @ 25 yards. I had the 250 grn Matt's Wadcutters over 7.5 grns of Unique. Recoil was pretty stout.
