I recently tried casting for the first time, plans were to try this Powder coating thing that Tank and Six-Shot talk about, all I can say is pay attention to what you read! Today I tried for the first time, I gathered all my equipment, tumbler, toaster oven, non stick foil, powder coat in 5 colors, red, john Deere green, black, white and gray. My messy bench Dumped the first batch in the tumbler, spooned in the red powder and let it run for 15 minutes,( now in the middle of all this the mail man came with a couple boxes) dumped them in the colander, shook them What the mail man brought a box from Barranti And a box of size dies for the star and dumped them on the foil to bake, 10 minutes later pulled them out and they were stuck to the foil. Tried again and they stuck, 2 more batches same stuck bullets. Could not figure out what the problem was. Then I re-read what Tank had posted, again! The foil was my problem, I kept reading non stick on the foil I had, but it was regular heavy duty foil, went to town and bought a roll of non stick and it worked! Picking foil off wad cutters is not a lot of fun! Some finished product Ronnie

And when using non-stick foil, the dull side goes up; just like it says on the box. I missed that a few cycles.
Great job Ronnie! It's not rocket science, but boy does it beat lube/sizing the old way!

not sure about that, maybe warm a few of them up and see if the lube melts. Ronnie

A pot of boiling water will take the lube off.

John Deere Green ? I'm in ! Problem. Bullets I want to try first already lubed. An easy way to remove lube ? I had some old lubed bullets awhile back that had been spilled on the ground. Didn't want to take a chance on grit in my handgun bore so dumped them in a big coffee can and covered them with mineral spirits. A few days later, I poured off the spirits and rinsed them with some clean mineral spirits. All the lube was totally gone. If mineral spirits won't remove a lube, acetone certainly will! However, acetone is a lot more flammable and not good to come in direct contact with.

OldSchool, thanks ! Wife has cosmetology background and always acetone here. Then I could try carb or brake cleaner maybe. I hadn't thought of chem warfare for a solution, thanks.
