For some time I have been wanting one of these and things fell into place for me to acquire it. Seven rounds of 357 mag with a loaded weight of 21oz, yep my back and hip don't complain. The hogue bantam grips fit my hand best and help with controlling during recoil. 38sp are pleasant to shoot and 357 mags are not a bad recoiler like a 329pd with 44 mags are bad. The downside, fiber optic front sight and v notch rear. A Bowen rear sight has replaced the factory v notch rear sight. I'm trying to decide about which front sight to replace the fiber optic with. Here's a picture.

Out of curiosity, why do you want to replace the fiber optic front sight?

Fiber optic front sight is too hard to shoot accurately at 100 yrds.

The fiber optic front sight is gone and a gold dot sight is in its place. I'm not sure about the gold dot but it is still better than the fiber optic.

So the Bowen rear and the gold dot front sight was ok. That gold dot still had some flare making it hard to use. So I got me an idea. I filled down the gold dot flat with the sight then serrated it. I'm liking it now. Much more user friendly for my eyes.

How does the serrations affect low light conditions, does the gold respond to ambient light in this configuration? Reason I ask is I've had the same problem with Gold bead front sights, sunlight strikes them at different angles a appears to move POI in how the gold dot is perceived by the shooter!
I like the concept of the 386 and would like to find one, I could deal on. There's one on Gone broker but it has a stainless cylinder. What are you using for a carrying load in that puppy?

The gold dot doesn't have any flare or glare to it now that it's just a insert but it still catches some light for contrast against the black sight.
I'm using 5.8 grns green dot to push a 158 swc. Not a max load but easy to shoot out of a 17 oz revolver.

The 386 is what I have been looking for! I guess S&W doesnt make it anymore. Atleast they dont list it on their website.

Serialsolver, nice photo work! What do you think you're getting out of that Green Dot load? How is it for accuracy with fixed sights?
