In my dealing on the purchase of the 7.62x39 #1, I found out Lipsey's was doing an exclusive International model #1 in 6.5x55.
Being a fan of the metrics, the 6.5x55 being my favorite, I had to have one.
Pick it up Friday.

That should be pretty nice. Great caliber though one I confess I never really warmed up to, but my ol dad was a die hard fan of it. He was always extolling the virtues of its downrange energy being better than a .270 which while true in some cases, I always pointed out to him he couldn't hit anything beyond a couple hundred yards anyway so what's the diff?

For me, I never argue or debate about which caliber is best. I buy what makes me happy and encourage others to do the same.
I do enjoy experimenting with none mainstream calibers and applications.
We have one shot at life. My goal is to enjoy it and learn all I can.

I've been eyeing the 6.5 RSIs since they were announced. I look forward to seeing what the wood on yours looks like.

Have already seen it, just didn't pick it up. It's extremely light walnut, crowding blonde. Truly unique in my collect of #1s.

Thanks Eric. I am more than a little O.C.D. So, I purchased a Nikon scope for it.
I really like Nikon scopes, but in the spirit of honesty, I bought it because the gold writing on the scope matched the wood so well.
I suppose I should consider help....

We've all been there. I once bandsawed over a cord of maple firewood looking for a piece of birdseye to finish a project.

I already have an Encore pistol in the 6.5x55. Figure this will go with it nicely.

Sweet mercy, that could easily become my "one rifle" for almost everything I do anymore and it checks so many boxes on the list of things I enjoy.
Falling block single shot? Check. Full stock? Check. 6.5x55? Check. Style and class? For days...I mean, check.

Sadly, I have to agree. I fell in love with the cartridge in the early 80s. Also, collect #1s so very excited about this one.

encore, I'm working through the safe mentally trying to figure out what really can go down the road to pay the tariff for one of these. My .327 single shot build that I'm just starting to plan as well as a possible foray into the Contender world will gladly be put on hold.
Stupid flat wallet syndrome...

Its a really neat little gun and it shoots really well like pretty much every No.1 I have owned in recent years. Its pretty rare too. Look forward to pics of the 6.5

Have shot a friend's, but I don't have one. They are very nice guns and should grace any collection.

That is the real prize of my few #1's. I have a 1-A 7x57(my first No.1), the .257, a 1-S 9.3x74R and the custom .404 Jeffery. All shoot superbly, when I do my part.
