Just adding 7.62x39 and 6.5x55.

right now a 6.5 X 55 would likely be my 1st choice if I were to buy a #1 right now...

I understand. Having a difficult time waiting until Friday. So, Thursday schedule may see some changes.

I already have an Encore pistol in the 6.5x55. I just caught that, what barrel length? What kind of sound and fury do you get out of it?

14" and it's not bad at all. It loves H380 and ballistics identical to the 7-08 when chambered in the Encore.

Are Ruger #1s very accurate?
I also like the Browning B78, not sure which I like more or which is more accurate.

Newer made N0.1's are usually very accurate, since they started making their own barrels some years ago. All of the No.1 rifles I have owned have all been at least good to excellent shooters. I have not sold any because they didn't shoot.

I don't own a 6.5X55 and kind of wonder why! I have always read wonderful things about it. It should be really sweet in a #1. Hope to see a photo of it.

Sorry about the pictures guys. Been super busy at work.
I have collected Ruger #1s since 1993 and never owned a bad shooter. Have heard stories, but never shot an unaccurate one.
I like the more obscure calibers. Have them in 218 Bee, 22 PPC, 6.5x55, 7.62x39, 405 WCF, 475 Linebaugh and crazy stuff like that.
Have always enjoyed shooting calibers that weren't in the mainstream.

Killed my first elk at 14 years old with a 6.5 x 55 Swede military rifle. She died just as fast as those I have killed with bigger magnums and was DRT. Pretty exciting for a 14 year old kid on his second day of elk hunting!
