Try'em. Here, the Bianchi crossdraw that lovingly houses my 7 1/2" 44mag SBh fro the early '80's will not allow entry of the shorter barrelled 480 SBH, due to heavier barrel and maximum length ejector.. The horse hide, hair on, made by people raised on Dos Equis, for "large SA" Does fit. YMMV..

Actually was very surprised to find it amongst other leather goods offered at our little town festival 2 yrs ago. Austinburg Country Days. The usual vests, chaps, purses, wallets n such. But one rack of holsters. Sent pic to Doc, he said it was of the better horse hide, hair-ons that he'd seen. I'm good with that. PM me a cell number, will send you the pic...

Finally got my .480 in hand and had a chance to chrono some loads yesterday. All loads from a 6.5" barreled Ruger Bisley in this chart. My gun really liked the 350-385 gr weight bullets and HS-6 was by far the most consistently accurate powder, followed by Unique.

Yes thanks for the Data! As for holsters my new 480 fits my El Paso saddlery three persons for a 6 1/2 blackhawk just fine, however I do have a Barranti NW Companion on order!

Having grown up with a 44mag SBH I'm now noticing something. I've come to explaining the 480 to friends, camp members,co-workers, as a 44mag with another 100grs of bullet. When you think of it this way you may notice that published velos are often quite similar. Then, even some of the charge weights of powder come close to being similar. I am NOT saying this to be used as a short cut to reloading, just a noticed coincidence maybe ? Anyone else have this pop into their heads when reading published data ? Curious.

Further thoughts on Lee 400gr mold/bullet. Can't seem to find guy that said he was in on development. Will need to mill flat the bullet seating plug, it rounding out the meplats. The adventure continues.

The Unique and Longshot data will get used here, thanks ! Anyone using 2400 in their 480's ? I've used some 2400 in my .480, 21.0g did pretty well with the 325g Lee gas checked bullet. I've started powder coating since I shot that load so I need to shoot it again, along with Unique and Longshot. I have a bunch of the Longshot so I'd like to find something that shoots well with it.

I'm also hoping Longshot works well in the 480. I've burned lots of it in 44, 45, and 454, tomorrow is the first run with 480.
