A vernier scale is in inches of elevation. There is no set ranges per-say. You sight your rifle in for a surtain range and record it, along with the load information. The ticks on the windage scale of a Soule are in minite of angle, one tick is one minite. Bill

Oh, simple enough, that way you can go back to it in a couple months when you have to shoot that range again, makes sense

Well, a month or two down the road the light would have changed, but you would be in the ballpark. That's where practice comes in, a lot of rounds down range. Practice also helps you know what your rifle is going to do in any situation that might come up. Bill

Indeed, practice does make perfect, however in the words of Vince Lombardi "Only perfect practice makes perfect". That Pedersolli shaprs will be in my hands this afternoon when I go to work at the shop. I am kind of wondering what will be on it for sights as it said in the literarue it came wit ha tang rear and globe front.

I didn't know the H&R rifles interchanged barrels. Do you have to send them off or anything, BTW for all interested, I should have got the 45-70 as opposed to the 45-110, I just discovered brass is 64.00 per 20

They have to fit them, and they charge reasonable prices but there is a wait. The 45-70 barrel is available from 'em... gotta wait about 4 weeks (at least so far...) they are cool though. www.hr1871.com/Support/accessoryProgram.asp

I was thinking about something along the lines of a 35 Whelen for my 45-70 frame, and wow, that's cheap, did they charge you anything for fitting
