Gotta love those Maximums !!! Great shooting, partner. 3 in the center ring at 100. Yeehaw ! Even more fun is to shoot steel. The auditory feedback causes a little rush everytime I make it sing. Looking through a spotting scope is just NOT the same tingle. I cut some metal tanks in half and got two bells that sustain beautifully when hung with bungee cords. Prescut Unfortunately this is a state range and they don't have any metal hangers or allow any backers other than their own, I do have an 8" gong but I just don't have any place to shoot this distance at steel. The feed back from the ringing of steel would have been a whole nother level though! I did get feed back from hearing it hit paper every time, little "swack" on paper, but there was a lot of paper to hit! Squigz, your load (180xtp and 18.5 gr 4227) averaged 1324 fps from my 10 1/2" Ruger 357 Max. Good information, thank you! Glad to know that someone else is shooting it with these bulelts too. I've been on the hunt for some more of them, just haven't come across. I'd really like to get my hands on some cast bullets for it as well, but been having a hard time, even before the backlog of everything.

It looks like Montana Bullet Works is still taking orders. They have a great 180 gr. WFNGC bullet. Good shooting by the way.

Anyone out there still trying this? I am seriously behind in doing this! I'm still doing it. Just need to remember to photograph and share the targets. I have a new Python I plan to try at 100 along with a lighter bullet in my .480 Bisley. Posts forthcoming. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

I'm all about the 100 yd life. I just forget to post. This thread has legitimately changed my range outings and my skill level.

I haven't done it in a while. Been shooting in rimfire matches lately. I have to make it a point to get some ammo loaded and get to the range.

Beautiful gun Lee and great shooting! 6" barrel is a perfect balance visually on a Blackhawk. What is the size of that plate?

Thanks. The plate is around 10" x 14". That gun feels as good in my hand as any single-action I own. And you're correct, the barrel is 6.0". I also went with a Super Blackhawk Hunter gripframe and Super hammer. Other touches include a Bowen target rear sight, homemade post front blade, a #5 basepin, and a 2 lb trigger job. The 5-shot .45 Colt at the top of the page has quickly become my 2nd favorite Ruger. Plus I have a thing for .41's. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

So the Razorback will fit inside the existing cylinder frame, just needs a longer cylinder? If so, that seems like a great way to get more performance over the 41 mag without a lot of work to the gun.
How do you attach the front sight, a screw? Thanks!

Yep. The .414 Razorback is simply a .414 SuperMag trimmed to 1.40". I designed the round in 1994 when Starline released .414 brass. All you need is a longer cylinder, which uses the entire frame window. The other nice thing is you can shoot .41 Magnum in it. As for the front sight, it is screwed on. Left to right: 240 gr Martin LFN, an empty .41 Magnum, the .414 Martin Razorback w/240 gr LFN -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"
