Had my 22 out today so thought, “What the heck?” It’s still pretty new to me. I fired these at 20 yards. Took 3 or 4 to calm down on the trigger but once i did, it put em in a fair little group. Then i moved out to 100 and fired two cylinders. Missed 5 out of 12 but the ones I hit grouped fair enough i guess. Doubt i’ll be taking 100 yard shots on squirrels but I oughta be good for renegade steel rams. Lol Oh, the ammo I was using was Federal bulk ammo. This was about what i was trying to hold and about what the sight looks like at that distance.

K22 at 90 yards (does that count?). Missed the first 2 with a 12 o'clock hold, tried a six o'clock hold with a protruding nub of front sight and was rewarded with 4 clinks. Upon inspection, one ruined the fun (at the bottom edge), but lucky enough to warrant a picture. Sitting, otherwise unsupported, using Eley Match. Potentially capable revolver below.

No picture sbut I finally felt confident enough and shot past 100yds. I made it back to my buddys driveway, 132yds. I shot my 5 1/2” 45 colt Bisley with some 313gr MiHa Ruger ONLY boolits. They were sitting over 22.5gr of H110. I felt like I needed to hold for wind and accidently held a little too much and missed 2 shots. But nonetheless I went 7/9 at 132yds! The group was concentrated pretty well in the lower left quadrant of the man silhouette steel target. It felt DAMN GOOD! Next time I try Ill have to give the rear sight about 2-3 clicks up.

I owned this gun years ago and traded it off because i had never even fired it. The guy mentioned when he got it that he wished it was a shorty and when i traded into a 4 5/8” 44, i gave him a call and we swapped, so i got it back. It is here to stay this time. He had never shot it either and had owned it for 2-3 years too! I installed a Belt Mt basepin, shot a couple cylinders and stuck it in the safe. Last week i got this set of Ajax polymer grips and stuck em on for a test fit. They fit really good so i left them on her. Today i decided to shoot her a little bit. Shot 20 shots at 20 yards, then moved to 50 and shot 5. Decided to try 100 for grins so i fired my last 10 at 100. Took 4 to figure out where I needed to hold. 6 oclock. Shot my last 6 and only hit 4 but that’s ok. It is very rewarding to ring the 12” gong at 100 even if it isn’t a 1” group.

• 5-shots, 100 yards bench rested. Group size = 5.5" • .475 Linebaugh, trimmed to 1.35” • Bullet – 445 gr Martin LFN • Powder – 22.5 grs of IMR 4227 • Brass – Hornady • Primer - CCI Large Pistol Magnum • Velocity – 1,240 fps I’ve done minor alterations to the gun which include: • Cutting the factory 8.5” barrel back to 6.0” • Jack Huntington grip reshape w/micarta • Trigger job • 2Dogs front sight The nose on the bullet measures 0.450”. It’ll fit my .475 Ruger Bisley and this BFR but the tip is flush with the cylinder face. I like a little more room and trimmed Linebaugh brass to 1.35”. Left to Right – 445 gr Martin LFN, 1.35” brass, .475 Linebaugh. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

Lee - it doesn't get any better than that. Great work on and behind the gun.
God bless.

Coordination of sight picture:1) Fresh oxygen to the eye(s). 2) Target fixed in mind. 3) SAME sight picture, shot-to-shot. 4) Front sight sharpens in the eye----the sight is a knife, the eye a sharpening stone. 5) Coordination of elements generates rhythm. Recoil* Heel index grip. (Don't choke high.) * Even pressure both hands. (Pressure below tremor level.) * Elbows bent. (No locked elbows for heavy recoil.) Point of Impact----once sighted for the distance, shift position to shift POI. Do not force the gun. Adjust position to target. I need to hang a piece of steel at the 100 yard stand. Have you fellows used sticks with the revolver for standing or sitting position?

Finally got a chance to shoot my lightweight SAA and .45 Colt Super Redhawk at the rifle range. Not bad for the first outing with both of these at 100 yards. I never went 6/6 with the Super but I'm sure I will improve with more trigger time.
Loads were 230 gr at around 850 fps in the SAA and 350 gr at 1,100 fps in the SRH.

Alaskan454.... good show! Don’t know your sight dope; suspect your single action load of 230 @ 850 fps a foot or more @ 100 yards. David Bradshaw

Mr. Bradshaw, it does drop several inches at 100 yards. I make my life easier by using a large enough plate so I can aim at the very top.

This thread hasn't been posted on in awhile and I'm finally getting to participate. Not really having the chance to shoot distance, I finally got to shoot my maximum at 100 yards. There's lots better groups out there, but I was happy with this being my first time at 100 yards with it and irons. 5-shots, 100 yards bench rested 357 Maximum Ruger Blackhawk Bullet - 180gr Hornady XTP Powder - 18.5gr IMR4227 Brass - Remington Primer - Remington 7 1/2 Velocity - unsure The dot is 3". First 10 shots were to regulate the sights and then covered up to shoot this next group of 5.

Gotta love those Maximums !!!
Great shooting, partner. 3 in the center ring at 100. Yeehaw !
Even more fun is to shoot steel. The auditory feedback causes a little rush everytime I make it sing. Looking through a spotting scope is just NOT the same tingle.
I cut some metal tanks in half and got two bells that sustain beautifully when hung with bungee cords.
