A very wise gun writer once told me 50 yards is 4 times as far as 25 and 100 yards is 5 times further than 50. I knew he was talking about difficulty not math but yea hitting at 100 sure makes 25 yards easy. But I will say trying to hit targets at 150 and 200 yards makes 100 yards seem a lot more reasonable. Keep shooting and learning guys...

I agree with that Fowler, I've been shooting a lot at 50 yds lately with handguns and it makes 15-25 yard distances seem a lot easier. I shoot a lot of IDPA, ICORE, and USPSA type stuff and always practice at twice the distance I expect for average shots. My times and accuracy have improved greatly.

Nice shootin Alaskan454 I hope to soon get into shape and give this a try. Possibly by springtime. I first need to find a load that is accurate for a new to me SRH 454. After I find the load and load up a BUNCH, then I'll need to practice Practice PRACTICE! I hope to one day be able to keep'em on a plate sized target at 100. If/when that happens I'll think of going further....
Thanks to you All for a Great forum devoted to handguns and showing what Can be done when you set your mind and body and equipment to it!!!

I spent most of Saturday shooting benchrest but tried this new Seville. Being low on lube-sized 41’s, I was limited to just twenty-five rounds. United Sporting Arms, Silhouette Seville - .41 Magnum, 10.5” barrel 290 gr Martin LFN and 18.0 grs IMR 4227: It took ten to sight the gun on a rock at 50 yards. Satisfied with its POI I moved the rear blade up and switched to 100. After five more and minor tweaks, I went after a pig propped against the impact area (I forgot to bring paper plates). Shot #1 landed low, shot #2 went high. One more click on the rear and the last 7 out of 8 connected. And before anyone asks...yep, I had to walk down and reset the steel after each hit. This spring we’re going to install a 14” swinging gong on our new 100 yard span. Ghosts of the past. Shooting this old backstop always uncovers lead. This one appears to be a 500 grain from my JRH or Wyoming Express. More shooting, less art gallery... -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

Lee.... glad to see I'm not the only one to make typos. Reckon you meant to say "pig" to describe the silhouette at 100 yards. Good revolver sporting a mean bullet, Sig Himmelmann would approve. David Bradshaw

I just realized I still haven't put my 480 to the test. I think my current loads are worthy to hit the 100 yard mark, and a freshly cleaned up action doesn't hurt either.

lee, I just melted when I saw that 10.5" .41 mag Seville!!! would be curious to see how fast those heavy bullets are being launched out of that long barrel. do you have any idea of the twist rate of that fine specimen? very nice shooting!!

David Bradshaw David – ya, I have a bad habit of calling all steel silhouettes “rams”. Thread corrected. Thanks, -Lee www.singleactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"

Eighteen twist. I haven't chronographed the load from this gun but I'd guess 1,300 fps. -Lee www.singeactions.com"Chasing perfection five shots at a time"
