...and I have got to say, I'm thrilled at how well this thread has maintained popularity! I was laid up on the couch for almost 7 weeks and read every page of it. Really helped me pass the time and also come up with some new loads to try.

Chopping heads off 223/556 cases for me today... Those ammo pushers want entirely too much for loaded 300 BO/Whisper ammo.

Maybe not today, but this week anyway, will be loading more 44spec sized rice loads. Wife was just watching some kinda news program and I walked thru the room with my first coffee in hand in time to hear the last of a segment on number of human deaths per year due to other living things kinda report. Though we love to discuss our bear loads/guns, bees/wasps/hornets always top the list. Hence, my rice loads are on point, addressing the most likely life threatening danger here, well, at least for about 5 months of the year. Our own barnyard critters come next. This the reason cowboys packed short guns. Ok, so bears are a much manlier, sexier threat. Earlier this summer, co-worker was complaining to me that wasps had started a nest in the upper back corner of his boys' playhouse and he didn't want to use a chemical spray. I gave him a cylinders worth of death by flying fried rice for his M629. Problem solved by gun fire. I love the smell of fried rice in the morning !

Did you fill the Folgers can in one sitting? With a one at a time sizer that's quite a job!

That was a couple of sittings. About two hours each time. It's about 2/3 full. I had a few hours yesterday and this afternoon and sized and lubed both days. I also resized and belled 300 44 magnum cases and ran 400 45 Colt cases through the tumbler. I have a 200 480 brass in there right now I need to check on.
I have a Star luber I got recently but haven't had time to set it up yet. It has a .452 die so I have several to buy yet to get fully operational for the other calibers.

OK, the 3rd coat of Elmers is drying nicely on the tops of a couple dozen 44spec rice loads. Next up, deer loads for the BSBH 480. Am thinking the Penn grooveless and now 355gr Thunderheads, PC'd, will get the next ride in that brass. Ole Brian Pearce's data that uses the very similar Tru-Shot bullet gives me hope. This from a Lyman Handgun manual with an article by him on the 480. Velos are inder a grand but accuracy looks good and should glide thru a whitetail at close range easily enough, if so lucky here.

I did a lot of shooting and load development this weekend with my Tikka 30-06, I'm feeling pretty beat up! The hunting load I normally use with IMR-4064 isn't much different from a .308 Winchester round and I wanted to go full power this year. I guess the LimbSaver Pad I installed is making me brave... I used XMR-4350 and Hodgdon H-4350 this time around. I've use IMR-4350 before but I never really stepped on it and that's where the 4350s really shine. I tried several loads Friday and wasn't getting the accuracy I wanted. I packed up my chronograph and was going to call it quits when one of the untested loads with the Hornady 165 gr. BTSP showed me something. Bullet: Hornady 165 gr. Spire Point Boat Tail Powder: XMR-4350 55.0 grs. Primer: Federal 210 Case: Hornady LOAL: 3.230 (2.673 with Stoney Point) Comments: Jam length 2.683 base to ogive, seated for 0.010 jump to lands. Six shot group at 100 yards measured 1.059 inch. I made up some more test rounds for today and the old 30-06 was showing me something! Five shots at 100 yards with the Sierra 165 gr. GameKing (1.207 inches). Bullet: Sierra 165 gr. HPBT Game King Powder: XMR-4350 55.0 grs. Primer: Federal 210 Case: Federal LOAL: 3.188 (2.713 with Stoney Point) Avg. Velocity: 2811.52 fps Spread: 37.90 Standard Deviation: 16.30 Comments: Seated for 0.022 jump to lands. Five shots at 100 yards with the Nosler 168 gr. Ballistic Tip (1.405 inches). I tensed up on the fifth shot in the upper left, so I think this load might be more accurate. Bullet: Nosler 168 gr. Ballistic Tip Powder: Hodgdon H-4350 58.0 grs. Primer: Federal 210 Case: Norma LOAL: 3.340 (2.720 base to ogive with Stoney Point gage) Velocity: 2810.29 fps Extreme Spread: 24.84 Standard Deviation: 9.27 Here's my normal hunting load with IMR-4064. The hogs I've shot with this load were all dead when they hit the ground - so I can't complain! It will put three shot inside 1/2 inch at 100 yards. Bullet: Nosler 168 gr. Ballistic Tip Powder: IMR-4064 49.0 grs. Primer: Federal 210 Case: Winchester LOAL: 3.340 (2.720 base to ogive with Stoney Point gage) Velocity: 2639.38 fps Extreme Spread: 30.43 Standard Deviation: 10.14 Comments: Loaded for .018 bullet jump to lands.

Loaded up some .500 Linebaugh Maximum today - been working up the brass for the past week, today was the easy part.
Just some 350 and 435 grain loads to start with, nothing too hot. 22 grains of Blue Dot and a 435 WFNGC is the "hottest" one I put together today. It's going to be a gradual progression, at least according to Plan A.
