Instead of drilling and tapping the frame, you could have him re-bore the factory hunter barrel.

I think Jack could weld up the exiting notches and bring them further back, but your best bet is to give him a call and discuss your desires to have an optic.
Grip frame reshape is a must!

the other option is to: 1. sell this 2. buy a 500jrh thru magnum precision (may be cheaper in the long run)
what do you think?

I think a Hunter in 500JRH would be sweet, but ONLY if you keep it a Hunter, with the ribbed/scoped barrel. Otherwise just pick up some beater blackhawk, no need to waste a Hunter! And like lostcoyote says it'd be a lot cheaper to do a BFR, but it sure won't look as good as this one!

Whitworth, That is a sweet gun in every way. Very impressed. That Jack is a freak of talent. I would be very proud to own that gun. I am impressed with Jack's work. I am interested in finding out how much more it is to get a best grade from Jack? I have a gun with him, scheduled for a full build currently, and I did not know that. I will have to pass it on to him. Thanks for the pictures! Typically you will spend $5-600 more for best grade as he takes care of the internal details as well.

Jack's website is currently being reconstructed from top to bottom -- finally. Jack is offering cut-down .500 Smith & Wesson brass until Starline again ramps up production. That's great! Do you know if he's trimming the rims of brass so it will fit his FA's guns? He is offering both rim diameters.

Whit, I have a small bone to pick with that revolver. How can you have such a beautiful piece of craftsmanship and still have a stock Ruger rear sight? For goodness sake man, put a Bowen on that beauty.

Hate to see the 500JRH fade away just because the brass dried up at the wrong time. P.S. Still upset at MRI for pulling the plug on there 475L and 500JRH, not politically correct but I just keep thinking "fags"
