Paul, I'd like to know if you decided on that front sight swap. Dawson F/O ? Height and color ? I've wondered what color guys here prefer for woods and field use. I find Dawson's website confusing and couldn't even tell which ones fit. Who else makes'em ? Saw some Tru-Glo's at a gunshop yesterday bit wasn't sure if they fit either. Are all 'Smith pinned fronts the same except for height ?

Different Paul here, but I'll chime in anyway. Dawson Precision pinned front FO dawsonprecision.com/s-w-pinned-fiber-optic-front-sights/There's a drop down menu that allows you to choose height and width. According to the website, both red and greed light pipes are supplied. If in doubt, give them a call, they've been very responsive in my limited contacts. As far a color, I like green the best. When bow hunting, the green sight pins are visible the longest at both dawn and dusk (for me anyway). I put one of Dawson's black ramped fronts 1/10" wide on one of my early guns. It was easy to install using a small jeweler's drill (recommended by sixshot) and a Brownell's drill bit. dawsonprecision.com/s-w-pinned-black-front-sights/Midway also offers some pinned FO front blades for S&W revolvers, but height choices are somewhat limited. www.midwayusa.com/s?targetLocation=%2F_%2FN-0%3FNo%3D0%26Np%3D2%26Nr%3DAND%2528p_visible%253A1%252Ccustomertypeid%253A1%2529%26Nrpp%3D48%26Ntpc%3D1%26Ntpr%3D1%26Ntt%3DS%2526W%2Bfiber%2Boptic%2Bfront%2BsightI know there are other offering pinned FO fronts (Hi Viz, Cyl & Slide Shop, etc.) Congrats on your choice -- the M69 is still my favorite .44. FWIW, Paul

If you want standard sights then I'd go with 105's (Paul) recommendation of Dawson. I looked hard at those but it's not the configuration I'm wanting.

Picture of M69 rear sight blades. One on left is from original 2 guns purchased early 2014. One on right is a recent replacement (2016) and the one that came with a later purchased M69. With the .280" OEM front sight blade, original guns (with higher rear blade) shot high at 25 yds with rear sight bottomed out using standard 240gr .44 magnum ammo. All of my guns came with the .280" front. New gun and gun with replacement rear blade regulate to POA at 25 yds using 240gr factory magnum ammo and the .280" factory front with adjustment to spare. On one of my guns with the original "high" rear blade, I replaced the OEM .280" front with a Dawson .305" 1/10" black blade (this blade will be too high if you have the "lower" rear balde. Here are some measurements: Gun #1 (Purch Q1 2014) Orig Rear Blade: .105" Replacement Rear .070" (replaced by S&W Orig Front Blade .280" Gun #2 (Purch Q1 2014) Orig Rear Blade: .105" Orig Front Blade .280" Replacement Front.305" (Dawson) Gun #3 (Purch Dec 2015) Orig Rear Blade: .070" Orig Front Blade .280" Original front blade at .280" doesn't seem to have changed over time. It looks like S&W provides a rear sight assembly with the "lower blade" with new guns and to fix older guns with POI problems. Hope some of that helps. Paul

Guess we could'a seen that coming ! I didn't really want a snubby with rural duties first priority, but maybe 3.5 or 3.75" would have been ok. Been trading back n forth between the M69 and Bulldog for daily carry and the 4.2 Eh ! barrel hasn't been a problem.

I have been looking at the 69 since it first came out. I kind of got derailed recently in .327 territory and bought a 5 1/2" S7 and an SP 101. I told myself the next handgun I bought would be one of the .480 Rugers and then a 69. Still want a .480 but now I am really thinking a 7 1/2" S7 will have to be next. Now I keep hearing rumors about Ruger bringing out a 5 shot .44 Special GP 100 and if that is true I think it will jump to the front of the line. Sigh.
One of these days.

Yup, had given up. How do GP and L-frames compare ? Well, I still wanted 44mag capability.
