Axe, We love it. For some reason, our Okra did not do well, our neighbor's also had poor production. We love it fried!

Sometime we forget how regional our vegetation can be. Brought up "Cutting the okra" in a phone conversation with a West VA forum buddy this morning. Had to explain what okra was. Sure hate it for you guys that don't know. Fried, boiled, pickled... Hard to beat some good okra. Let's get out the skillet and some corn meal and get with it! That's what I'm talkin' about, jack! Of course, all the old-timers down south would say you're pronouncing it wrong. It's okr"ee".

The only thing I miss more than fried okra is my Grandma's Polk salad and scrambled eggs, seasoned with bacon. She grew up on Gaither Mtn in Boone Co. Arkansas.

Its funny, I'm from the far NE snow belt counties of Ohio. Yet my stomach must be from Georgia or somewhere down thataway because I love okra, grits, greens, catfish, and such ! stevemb

Being from Ohio and liking catfish is not at all strange.Everyone I have spoken to who had tasted catfish loved it!Now I like catfish but the fish I LOVE and I cannot get(at least afford) is Walleye! When I was working in northern Ohio years ago I could get fresh Walleye and I have never tasted a fish as fine!

I agree on the walleyes. One of my favorite fish to eat. Right up there with crappies and perch. I killed the walleyes this spring and summer. I'm going to crappie fish this week. Also looking foward to ice fishing for perch. One of the great things about living in the finger lakes region!!!

Okra... like beets... not my favorite, but if you're cookin, & you know how to cook your regional foods, I'm at least trying them... not much Okra here in Minnesota used to go to east TX mud racing for several years, & got introduced to Boudan ( spelling ) ( dirty rice in sausage casings )... will admit, I took a liking to that... haven't had any in years... mmmm making me hungry just thinking about it

There's a place down there you can mail order that kinda sausage from. Maybe Willie Robertson can hook ya up/ I cannot recall the name. After this coffee hits bottom I'll do some goggle-fu, and if I find it I'll post. stevemb

Looks like cajun-shop.com will do it. This not the one I'm trying to recall. Back to our regularly scheduled okra. stevemb
