I WANT A 41 MAGNUM LEVER RIFLE! That being said, the prices on a used one are steep if you can find one. Does any one convert marlins or any other to 41 magnum? If I have to pay a premium I'd rather buy a custom than an off the shelf. Ronnie

It would be cheaper by far to pay the price if you find a Marlin 1894 in 41 magnum.

Maybe,but.... I've been watching one on Gunbroker and it will most likely sell for $900 or more, and one went a couple days ago for $1299! If I have to pay that much(or more)I would rather have one built to suit me. Just my .02 cents Ronnie

I've seen a couple the last few years and probably would have seen more if I was looking for one. Don't kid yourself, you can't have a quality lever-action rifle built for less than a $1,299 - so if you find one off-the-shelf for $900 - jump on it - it's a deal for that chambering.

have the .41 Bisley, 4 5/8 Blackhawk,6 1/2 Blackhawk and the 1894FG , added XS sights which made it a lot easier to shoot well. Don't like the bisley grip frame that much and am thinking of changing to Blackhawk grip to keep the 7 1/2 barrel

You would be money ahead to buy a Marlin for $900-$1200 versus having something converted. If you are really interested in something like that, go to Mic McPhersons website and see what he charges for a caliber conversion. He is good but man they get costly. I have a Marlin 41 cowboy version and thought about somehow making a 414 Supermag custom lever gun but I just could not justify the cost.

Regan Nonneman of Grant City Missouri does them. 660-786-2443
My brother in law just had one converted to 41, starting life as a 44 mag. He had Reggie duplicate the Cowboy Limited with 20" full octagon barrel and full magazine tube. Since Marlin only made 1000 of them, I guess he has the #1001.
I'll get some pictures up when I can pry it out of his hands....

I have a 41Mag Cowboy Marlin.....I didn't know it was rare. Are you saying they only made a 1000 of these things ? I have seen quite a few standard 41 Marlins, but not lately. I might consider selling mine if I could get a crazy price for it. I've only shot a couple cowboy matches with it, but when I got my '73, haven't used it since.

Don't know about rare, but try to fine one! The one I saw on GB went for just over $900. I think I will try to call Mr. Nonneman just to see. I'm heading out to my local store today to browse the racks. Ronnie

To my knowledge, the "Cowboy Limited" is the 20" barreled version was limited to 1000. I don't know the numbers on the original "Cowboy" with the 24" barrels.
I could be wrong, (wouldn't be the first time) but I've not seen any information to the contrary....yet
