So to begin with I need to apologize to WildWill for being crappy when he tricked me into telling I got this one. Lawyers! He's smarter than me. Dustin Linebaugh .475 with Dustin grips and scalloped loading gate. This gun is unfired. I 'bout hate the way I got it but I feel like it came to a good home. Apparently others inquired and I was the 1st to commit to buying it. I'm just thrilled. To all those out there hunting....be ready when the opportunity arises. Sometimes they are few and far between and WildWill is on the prowl too

Beautiful! Sad I missed it for sure. Think there was a mix up and Tom was kind and apologized in his response. I had committed as much as a man can when we struck a deal a couple weeks before on another gun but he wasn't sure he wanted to part with it yet. If the decision was made, I understood he was going to let me know before listing. I harassed a few times (few polite e-mails/PM's), but didn't want to pester too much. E-mailed my delight in gun he shipped and took the opportunity to again ask if I could send him some more money only to learn it was already gone. He was very nice and seemed to have forgotten our conversation.
I almost cried--but oh well. I am sure it will be enjoyed. Parted with a couple extra toys to ensure I had extra funds for this one or another I had a line on--neither worked out. Just happens that way sometimes though.
Bushog, if you ever tire of it, please give me a try at it. Think that thing still needs to be in Alaska.

I think Tom had his hands full there for a few days with all the guns he let go. I know the 500 I got from him is one of the nicest and classiest gun in the safe.

Made me belly laugh!!!
This is probably the classiest I have now too.
There has been some serious blood-letting going on around here to pic up a few that are very hard to find and it's not over yet. The next month or so will be interesting to say the least ;D

Now that's a nice revolver! Really like the scalloped loading gate.

I like that gun. I remember when Dustin made the stocks. He emailed me pics and I was wanting to swap gripframes

Black hole--nah, midnight sun baby! Think how that thing would shine up here. Picture it glistening on the tundra, little bear blood fingerprints on the grip-frame.
I am confident one of Dustin's guns will make it north sometime over the next 25 years or so. At least I have youth and commitment on my side.

That's a beaut for sure. Question about Linebaugh guns. I notice that neither John or Dustin make their cylinders recessed. Or rather... others smiths recess the cylinders. Any idea why some do and some don't?

My experience has been with the recessed case heads, after shooting it some they can get hard to seat the cartridge properly. Especially in my FAs. I used to think recessed was better but...

The Linebaugh Long I just parted with is the only Linebaugh built gun I have personally seen with recessed case heads. I certainly do not claim to be an authority, but have or had around a dozen of his guns, and that's the only one. And agree, after longer range sessions, cartridges take a bit of thumb pressure to seat all the way.

So why do others recess the case heads? It seems like only Linebaugh and Reeder guns don't.
I'm just curious. I've read something about support for the loading gate?
