Besides loving the grips themselves for what they are, I really like to see the shape of the grips. I know that some gripmakers like to have a tracing of your hand for a decent fit, but some really have a certain flair to their work. Fishpaw is definitely one of those makers.

Of course the fit the frame great and fit my hand the same, but i must have one of those hands that a Bisley grip frame ain't made for. When I load the 300 grainers at anything above 1100 fps, my signaling finger gets rapped. I do know how to fix it though (besides shoot light bullets slow that is).
I'll get some better pics up and include the JRH SBH grips.

Just beginning with posting pictures here, and I didn't get a chance to stage the revolver (I took these for Doc Barranti so he could make a holster for the revolver). Anyway, Scott called the Mesquite "birds eye", and though these first pictures don't show it too well, they have eyes covering a good bit of each side. The sight and mount have just been added and we'll see what it will do when I get to shoot it this weekend. The Ruger is a 45 Colt and the usual sights are Bowen rear and Clements front. I'll get better pictures now that I know how to post them here, and also snap some of the Ruger SBH that Huntington did his grip modification on and fitted some darker walnut to the frame.

I have some new RSA grip pictures I'd like to post, but they are too big. I suspect I'll need to upload to photobucket?
I hate to not share Huntington and Kolar grips.

I too am having a renewed interest with 357's, though it has nothing to do with recoil sensitivity. I will admit it's nice to not be banged up and I doubt anyone will say a 357 is not an Accurate cartridge.
My newest mold is an Accurate 36-176D (Tom modified another drawing at my request and that's what he ended up with) and with COWW + 2.5% tin they weigh 177 grains. The only powder I've used so far is HS6. I've only used HS6 beginning late last year, but I have to say I wish I had used it long ago (I wish I had a few 8 pound containers of HS7, but it's gone).
My rambling point is that HS6 works wonderful for me in the mid/heavy weight bullets at a decent velocity. As long as I put enough in the case and use a Magnum primer, it is very clean burning without any unburned granules. Before you give up on the 180's, give a pound of HS6 a try. My recommendation would be about 8.5 grains and use a Magnum primer. It won't be a powder puff load, but it won't be a heavy load either.
I'm editing to say I suggest this load for the Blackhawk only. I would love to own a 66, but I would agree that recoil would be stiff with 180 grain bullets.
Edited to add that I took another look at the bullet in question. Taking that long bearing surface into the equation, if you were to try HS6 start at 8 grains and work up. The bullets I use have longer noses and take up less space inside of the case.

I have studies WWII. How is running SA or RRA out of business helpful? I just don't get the knee jerk, poking holes in the air stance that wont accomplish anything good. At any rate its not a done deal yet and hopefully the Gov will veto this and perhaps there wont be enough votes to override his veto. One can only hope. Nolongcolt, I don't want to seem to pick your reply apart (you like everyone else are welcome to your own opinion), but in your last two sentences you used the words hopefully, perhaps, and hope. The Democrats and RINOS want us to hope nothing will happen while they continue to pick apart everything they can and turn this country into what they consider a proper utopia. In truth, about 50% of the politicians believe in their ideals, the other 50% just want power. The first 50% are more dangerous and could care less about what anyone else thinks. Just watch the programs called "news". The last paragraph was not meant to lecture you nolongcolt, just my opinion......

I noticed where someone mentioned how the Single Six looks kind of different when you fit a Bisley grip frame to one. Sort of Beyonce ish. Too big down low and too small up high. Feels good in the hand though.......

Nice tools. They look to be in very nice condition. I doubt they could be produced today for a price anyone would pay. Imagine making something that would/could last several lifetimes.
I'll go back to using my Co-Ax with my head held down......

Oh, I didn't read anything negative in your OP. I stated in my earlier post to "scratch the scab lightly and you'll find many many more enjoy that useless 357". Well, it seems many more do love it still. Also, more than likely, most that have a 357 have bigger calibers.
It's nice having choices.

As to what you've missed, probably not a whole lot, but you've gained a heck of a lot of experience.
Now to the 357 love you are reconnecting with. I doubt anyone will laugh too hard, a pound of lead goes much further, a pound of powder lasts and lasts, brass is cheap, the revolvers are STRONG, and I don't ever remember anyone saying "I just can't get my 357 Magnum to shoot".
My secret is no longer a secret in that I bought a SS Blackhawk 4.62" back in September. Bought a couple Accurate Molds molds and love it.
My first duty revolver (after service) was a 686 4", which I still have.
Hold your head high Sir and shoot that fine 357 Magnum proudly (scratch the scab lightly and you'll find many many more enjoy that useless 357)!

I laid my thumb open like that a lifetime ago. 38 Special I got away with, when I loaded up a cylinder up with Federal 125 grain JHP 357 Mag, I seem to remember, the thing cut like a knife. You guessed it, I never did the thumb forward grip on a revolver again.
As I have tried to get my son shooting a revolver, he has been tempted to grip them that way. My response is usually "you sure you want to do that?". He really doesn't......

I had to do a double take to get what you were referring to. That is a self correcting error. Maybe he wasn't going to shoot the +P mentioned in the ad......

And do what I've done, keep a spare set. Consider $2.50 +/- per screw and no more worries.
