Shooting a 1.5 inch group at 100 with a 4x scope is excellent work. I'd imagine more scope would shrink those groups better than additional load development. I've shot the 180 XTP in to a 1/2 inch group at 100 using a max carbine, but that was with a 20x scope.

I'm sure you know this, and it doesn't work for some lifestyles, but shifting the holster around to 4 o'clock turns that cant into a natural position for drawing. The downs side is trying to sit with the holster and feeling like you're pulling the gun out of your back pocket.
I'd imagine a belt loop adaptor could be made, like a high ride drop holster, but that's not as clean as your planned rig.

Yes he’s doing claw mounts for my Combination and a red dot mount for the double rifle, I have no idea what he’s gonna charge. The bases were already on the gun so it’s just the scope rings that need to be fit. Trapr NECG charges something like $700-1000 to fit claw mounts to existing bases and mount the scope. It would be great if JRH was less, because a lot of combination guns go relatively cheap for lack of mounts.

Very nice,......JRH has my Merkel Combination gun and Double rifle now setting them up for optics. The Drilling I’ve always liked is the double rifle Drilling, preferably with a 20ga. underneath. Heyms are very nice guns, congrats Trapr Huntington does claw mounts, or he's doing a conversion? If claw mounts, mind if I ask what he charges? I got hooked up with an importer out of German with excellent prices, so expect pics of a vierling and a couple O/U combination guns. I never really put much thought into combination guns, drillings, vierlings, cape guns, etc, or into European optic mounting schemes. I think I'm getting the hang of that world now.

This is a hunt I was unprepared for. Dad and I went out to feed the cows around midday, and I decided to bring along the new drilling to sight in and this MGM 16 inch Contender to verify the optics. All went well and we decided to walk opposite sides of a stand of woods and see what we could flush out. Normally walking the woods would be fruitless, but with wet leaves and the rain coming down to mask noise we decided to give it a shot. Also, this is the first time in years I haven't had a hunting revolver on me. After a bit, I heard something big running left to right behind me. The large boar wasn't far from me, but he was moving fast in thick brush and the fixed 6x on the Contender proved to be a handicap. An iron sighted revolver would have put him down. Not too much further I saw two juvenile hogs just over a ridge caused by the creek embankment. One shot sent them both running. There was no crossing the creek bed at that location with everything muddy and slick. In the process of finding a route around it, I found the pig I had shot 20-30 yards away. I had given dad the drilling to hunt with hoping he'd see something, and in retrospect removing the scope and using iron sights and buckshot might've netted me two more pigs. My carbine was a G2 Contender with Tony's stock, 16 inch MGM barrel, Zeiss 6x in Leupold QD rings. Load was H110 and a 240 XTP. Pics show the carbine wet even before the real rain hit, the hog as he lay just clear of the thick woods, and the convenience of a modular gun- disassembled, dried, and oiled with only an Allen wrench.

One from the in-stock list I've been eyeing. Holsters for optics are typically made to order, and I have a different project in mind for my Barranti placeholder. Shown with a Model 69 with an RMR. One day it may wear a 2x Leupold and see hunting duty.

I know a lot of people love the old tanker style, but I've never used one that allowed a solid firing grip at first grasp. That big flap of leather just gets in the way. The Kenai or Diamond D (and probably others I'm not familiar with) don't have that speedbump built in. I really hate to have to mess around with getting a grip on the gun, I want it at first touch. Agree. The down side to having the gun pulled close to your chest and having leather between your chest and the gun is there's no room to get your hand around the grip. Some guns are better than others for this arrangement. Some body shapes probably make it easier and others worse. Adding lining to the holster helps, so that the leather in that area isn't rough-out. In general, lined holsters or rough out/smooth in holsters are preferable.

My EPS version is for a Redhawk.
Nice holster, would recommend if that style fits your needs.

Gary Reeder has killed about everything with his 41 GNR IIRC, which is a 41 cal but a bit hotter since it's a 44 magnum necked down. He makes cervical spine shots, not thorax.
A 41 stout enough for buffalo won't feel a ton different than a 44 or 45 hot loaded.

Had a regular MRI and a high contrast MRI done on Monday. Tuesday got a call from the Doc. Dr.: "Mr. Meyer we have the results from your MRI." Me: Great! What's the news? Dr.: Umm, you better come in. Are you currently taking any antibiotics or blood thinners? Doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. Next Tuesday is my appointment. My 11 year old asked if we were going hunting over the Thanksgiving holiday. I said probably not. He asked... Cause of your back? Yes. He said "Dont worry daddy. You put him on the ground and I will get him to the ice chest." At's my boy. Well, there's varying degrees of bad. I covered a postpartum patient whose back pain throughout pregnancy was dismissed as, well, pregnancy. Got some imaging the day after her C section, and about 4 hours later neurosurgery had her on her belly getting her spine worked on. You feel lucky you caught it and cross your fingers your stitches hold. Hoping for good news, that is a problem that isn't dangerous and that has high success rates for treatment.

A $6k rifle with $4k optic is wasted without a good rest.

Is it the Hunter that uses Barnes data? Some hammers do snd others use faster than typical powders to hit velocity at a powder volume.
