Landscape fabric works to an extent. I have used it in the past and it worked great early, but if not removed cooked the roots. All depends on what part of the country your in. Compost is gr at stuff. I had in the past a 20x20 pile I would turn and feed through the summer. If you use clippings that may have seeds in them, can't get with black plastic and it will cook the germination out of them.

"I'd urge everyone here to stay far, far away from Glyphosate (Roundup). It's some seriously bad Mgumbo and it stays residually in the soil for a significant amount of time. We use it in commercial applications, but it won't ever, ever be used at the farm. Same goes for Trimec. That stuff works great, but is straight-up killer poison."
After having worked in agriculture for close to 20 years, the above I am sorry to say is not completely true. Anything in excess is not healthy. Glyphosate has no residual that I am aware of. I have seen people point at RU off and on for years. The big issue now was mostly caused from people not following directions, rates were cut in half or more years back. It did not kill the plant completely and over the years it built up resistance.
When one gets on this subject, they should be wide eyed. According to some studies there is so much atrazine in the Missouri River you should be able to pump right out of it on to corn and kill weeds. They will throw in that acceptable amounts are higher today than years ago. What the neglect to mention is they went from PPM to PPB. They will throw numbers around then not give all the facts.
I won't try and school anyone on using chemicals. As to the honey bees, I believe it for sure. Look at what they find in the water they bottle from glaciers...........
Weeds are just plants out of place. Don't want them there, get a hoe.

Fermin, you sure know how to start a topic for sure!
I will omit a lot of blah blah. My 300 WM was not finished and time was winding down. I needed somthing to buck the wind. Only thing I had as far as a packable rifle was a 270WW that I had bought as a donor action for a try out of a 6.5-06. Got away from the thoughts on 130 and 140. Went to a 150 Hornady SST as I have had excellent luck with them. New load data for reloader 26. It thinks it is a 7 mag now. Book loads l, top end all the way to 800 I was happy to say the least.
Some of the new powders and new bullets, you might rethink the old 308.

FYI for those of us with the SDB presses. On occasion we have to back out a seating stem, and it doesn't thread into the delrin/nylon and it can back out. Get some Teflon pipe tape, a half dozen wraps and your good to go. Jeff

Did you have a shot of vodka while doing this?

A medium to large barking dog with white teeth, is as good as a lot of things. My German Wirehair pointer is pretty protective. I never let strangers think she won't bite. The less they know the better. Sam Colt, John Browning and Bill Ruger are my security agents. If your not a friend or invited, go away.
Long drive way. From what I have heard about if a gate is in place, it should be closed at all times. If it is open when your there and closed when your not, that sends a signal to undesirables. Jeff

I looked and looked at roofs and roofers. Some of the storms we have had in the past half dozen years have taken a toll on a lot of homes around here. My old house had what were call T lock shingles when I bought it from my folks. Predecessor of timber lines. I roofed it about 25 years ago, lost a few tabs year before last. Time to do something. Had bids from several. Bit the bullet and said the heck with it and had steel put on it. I don't want to have to fool with it ever again. Steel roof and 6" gutters cost me about the price of a new wheel gun more than the asphalt shingles.
Hail may dent it, so what it doesn't leak and majority of people never look up any way.

Rough finish, is that from the interrupted cut? Or is it the cylinder alloy? Jeff

I just can't seem to warm up to the Henry myself. Zing and bling with super walnut, then most folks say they shoot well. They few I have handled, just don't balance well in my thoughts. Jeff

Probably smells like grandmas house, not bacon and bisquits and gravy, but moth balls. Jeff
