...We did take one day and travel to Joshua Tree NP and were able to see the diversity of life in the desert! A beautiful park if you ever get to that part of the country. We took another day that was nice and went to the San Diego Zoo's Wildlife Safari Park.... A couple of my favorite haunts when I lived in that area.

Nice gun there Axe. I really liked my Baer gun until I handled a Nighthawk. Really trying to find a used one at a retired man's price.

The mail came and my new miha mjolnir mold was there. Yippee, just in time for the weekend. Just checked my bank accounts, and my tax refund was deposited today. Great day!

It started snowing late Wednesday night, on through Thursday, plus a bit on Friday. Over 18" of snow by Thursday afternoon. This morning the temperature dropped to zero. First time I've seen that happen in this area. The sun is out now & I suspect the snow will be gone in just a few days. It's nice outside!

The term, Flatlanders. Used to be a joke with us when young. We had T-shirts that had Yosemite Sam and the saying underneath, "Ah ain't no Flatlander !". We backpacked the eastern mtns, we spent time climbing and packing in the 'Bob, Yellowstone, the Tetons and spent a week on Mount Rainier. So we earned it. Hadn't thought about the term for decades until recent visits by family up from Florida, yup, flatlanders. My 2 acres here on the Grand River is a series of benches, terraces, 5 of them from the road to the river. Between the flats though, yup hills ! When we walk around the property with then, wether they are 6 or 30yrs old, they all take turns falling. I'm walking in wore slick Crocs if it's 50 degrees or more, and no issue. The twenty something nephew that is "outdoorsy" hunts hogs and turkey and such has the same problem ! "Uncle Steve ! Aren't you gonna help me up ?" Nope, too busy laughing my a$$ off ! I'm 60 and have to get my laughs where I can.. Seems people that spend their lives on flat ground, or manmade ground just don't pay much attention to what their feet are doing, or where they are on the ground. Just wanted to share something that made me smile lately.

Decided to take a drive an hour south to Findley NWR since it is raining and nasty. Naturally I failed to get the binos out of the safe when we ran into 100+ head of elk! One large branch bull, a dozen spikes and a bunch of cows and calves.

Watching one of the Jurassic something movies. Shorty 480 full of Lehigh bullets on Power-Pistol on the coffee table. LOL. Watching one of them dinysore movies a few years back got me to buy the first BSBH 480 here. Watching them T-rex critters eating people suddenly made my 44spec Bulldog feel kinda inadequate. A good line by the guy packing a Marlin 1895.."like taking a walk in the woods..65 million years ago.."
