"The caliber will be approved." I hope so. Are we recognizing that the 500JRH is not a SAAMI spec cartridge? Do these communist state regulators approve wildcat cartridges on a regular basis? You just need to move south to our free state of Virginia.......

Doesn't really matter much what the caliber is. They just get to charge/hassle you for trying to exercise your rights. When the manufacturer submits a new model for approval, they can include on the petition all the calibers they plan to chamber that model in. Upon approval, all calibers listed on that petition are approved. Any future, additional chamberings have to be added by petition as needed; usually this time by individuals rather than the manufacturers. Really is nothing more than another hurdle to jump over to own a handgun in the "Free State" Also, remember that for EVERY new model that EVERY manufacturer introduces, a representative model must be submitted to the Handgun Roster Board for "testing" if they request one in order for it to be sold in MD. Other than that sounding like a cool job testing guns, they can destroy the gun in testing if they want to and don't have to give it back or pay for it. Probably the same over in CA and other states. Big costs for gun companies to sell in those states, passed along to everybody I'm sure.

Not trying to get ya in trouble or anything, but if you had a 50AE cylinder would there be a way to make it legal?

Most restrictions are from companies who won't do business with a state that has requirements. Remember, there are a few who won't lift a finger unless there is a profit motive.

OK I have received the proper petition for getting this caliber approved in Maryland. In a separate letter (all information is email) The Maryland Handgun Roster Board Administrator, Marlene Jenkins states " A sample (the firearm) is not required when the petition is to add another caliber to a handgun that has already bee approved. HOWEVER< THE PETITIONER MUST PROVIDE INFORMATION TO SHOW THAT THE HANDGUN IN THE NEW CALIBER IS THE SAME AS ALREADY APPROVED HANDGUN.(This proof can be in the way of a brochure, pamphlet or any other kind of document ion from the manufacture, etc)"
so any thoughts/ web sites on obtaining such info so as I can print out and send in with the petition. any help in getting this caliber established in Maryland is much appreciated..USAJon and Mary.
