Here are leftysrh's contributions: 5 1/2" .45 colt/ACP convertible. Pretty much Bone stock other than Bowen rear sight. (quote from leftysrh) "This one has been a shooter since the box opened. Reamed the throats to .4525, Bowen rear, HiViz front and lighter trigger spring. This .45 is the one plan on baggin a deer or hog with this coming season."

I have really enjoyed my Bisley Hunter. I learned a lot with that gun. I have it paired with a Diamond D chest rig for hunting, its a pleasure to carry. Just hope to drop the hammer on some game this winter. Ideally I'd like to get this gun in .44 mag and convert it to 5 shot .480 Ruger.

The 5 1/2" still kinda amazes me. I mainly plink with it, 270gr SAA HP MiHec clone with 13.0gr HS-6. LEADS like crazy but still stacks them pretty good. The problem is the bore is really rough but for some reason she shoots very well, so I leave it alone. Honestly, I'd love to see a octagon barrel on this .45 colt. These two aren't anything special compared to most that have been posted but they are mine and I have really ejoyed them. Hammer and I both have been suprised a few time with both of these guns.

Does this count? It's not mine but will be staying with me awhile for testing (thanks jwp). FA 83 in .454 with a 6-inch barrel. It balances really well.

Close enough to count in my book. IMHO a 45 colt cylinder is the #1 best upgrade for a FA 454. The two I still own haven't worn their 454 cylinders in over two years. I much prefer the rcoil of hot 475L and 500L to hot 454 loads. just do not feel as sharp to me and have pretty much stopped reloading 454 for the time being.

Very fine examples of 45 firearms.
Nice to see a few 45 Colt Bisley Hunters. It is on my quest list.
I'm hoping to get my 45 Colt back soon from a little tuneup. I'm holding off pics until then.

As to recoil: shoot a warm 45 Colt in your model 83, then load the same weight slug to the same OAL and velocity using the same powder in 454 brass. I don't think anyone could tell the difference and it saves having to buy the extra cylinder.

I do prefer the .45 Colt as a cartridge over the .454, that being said.

.45 Colt is by far my favorite, and most fired cartridge. Here is my "every day" gun. Vanilla New Vaquero with some of Cary's grips.
