I'm just curious about something that I get asked a lot and I know about 99% of you guys get the same question.
For those of that are not in law enforcement of ranchers or others that really need to own and carry. Does need ever enter in to the equation?
For me I don't need any of the guns except maybe and I do mean maybe one. I can justify it's "need" because since MS(the disease not my wife) has made running and even walking fast not a option I can say I need my xd.45c for personal protection. But other than that I don't need 4 Rugers in .45colt and I don't need to shoot a 340gr bullet at 1200-1300+fps or even a 300gr. that fast But it sure is fun ;D and it makes me happy so Yes I need em all and need to shoot them the way they give me enjoyment.
Ant others have this experience?

NEED is not, and has never been, a large part of the equation. If need was the primary part, a fist sized rock served well for many moons. We NEED these the same way art collectors need more than one painting, sculpture, etc. It ain't need. I WANT!!

Life would be bleak indeed if all we concerned ourselves with were needs.

Life would be bleak indeed if all we concerned ourselves with were needs. True. But, life would be better, indeed, if we didn't so often confuse wants with needs.

That, and at the end of the day when we decide we are old enough to put them down, pass them on to family or simply sell a few here and there to supplement retirement, they bring far more than a used cat.
My wife calls them my redneck retirement.

Need was left behind decades ago. I've recently done a big reduction, but I'm still way past need.

Humans are driven by two very basic things: 1) Avoidance of pain. (SD) 2) Seeking of pleasure. (They are FUN!) Owning, shooting, enjoying and carrying these wonderful single actions satisfies both of the basic human needs! ... Dr. Foxx is in da house! I'm not a Dr. but I play one on TV!

My wife calls them my redneck retirement. I can relate 100% to this! Except my wife calls my collection my "oakie retirement". About the same as redneck retirement though!

Life would be bleak indeed if all we concerned ourselves with were needs. True. But, life would be better, indeed, if we didn't so often confuse wants with needs. and also, in light of current politics, people too often confuse needs with rights--- which degrades and trivializes the profound meaning of rights!
