Need, boy I've heard it said what does need have to do with it. I could probably exist without a beautiful six-gun (DON'T YOU DARE TELL MY WIFE!) but life would loose something, I've been in law enforcement, shot NRA pistol bullseye, still hunt with a handgun, & just plain shot for enjoyment. Handguns are a huge part of my life. I've reached the age that fighting could be a loosing proposition, running well a Turtle could catch me. I no longer bounce when I fall, I just kind of go splat. Do I need a gun? Maybe more now than any time in my life. Yea! I NEED them! Frank

The original idea behind the 2nd Amendment was the concept of layered systems of defense. The defensive layers are 1) national, 2) state, 3)local, and 4) citizenery. The layers were devised so that if the nation was attacked, the aggressive force would pay a very high price. The 2nd Amendment was not written for hunting, self defense, or shooting sports but for the ability to defend the nation. However, in order to be prepared for national defense, engagement in hunting, self defense, and shooting sports should be encouraged. The believe that one does not believe in the ownership of firearms is also backed by the 2nd and 1st amendments.
Thus, making my statements, I could not freely release my collection of firearms.
