That's pretty cute! And no dinosaurs drinking a beer riding a cow girl!

Nice looking custom, but what does .22 Mag buy you out of that short barrel?

Good question on velocity. Of course there are already 4 inch and shorter 22 Mags out there so it should be a well documented thing. I'd think that a custom fitted proper size barrel and oversize cylinder will minimize the typical velocity loss seen in a mass production short barrel 22 mag. Guess somebody needs to buy one and spend some time shooting over the chrono! Any Volunteers?

I like it and I'll take one! Definitely one of his better looking sixguns.
The .22Mag typically yields 400fps over the .22LR and does so with a heavier, jacketed bullet. Funny how no one questions the viability of the .357 over the .38Spl, .44Mag over .44Spl but in every single conversation I see about the .22Mag in handguns, it comes up. The concept is the same, only perception differs.

I agree. Shorter barrels get less velocity regardless of caliber.
Usually you can match rifle velocity of the .22LR with a Mag in a handgun.
I think the reason it gets brought up more is that the ammo factories advertise .22mag velocities from rifle barrels, so some people think that's what they're getting from a pistola.
The other you mentioned, .38,357,44s are usually all rated from 8" or so vented test barrels.

I was just wondering where you've been Mr. Axe. I like that little packer. I said...... packer.

Nice looking custom, but what does .22 Mag buy you out of that short barrel? Very little in my experience as a BC 22 Mag was under consideration. This after chronographing my OM SSS with both cylinders. Difference in the field would be nil. At least that is where I landed so the project never proceeded. Now a 32 H&R still entrigues me some given the few I have fiddled with in Alan Harton's shop.

Lurking... Always lurking.. Unless I finally went to the range! That Bearcat custom sure caught my eye. He says he'll do the same treatment in stainless too. My current issue is the consecutive serial number stainless Bearcats at my house. I'd like a matcing 22LR done up to match the Mag with a proper LR barrel and oversize cylinder. I've asked the question...

Am I having a bad dream or did Bowen pull the .22 mag Bearcat conversion offering?
I went to go compare prices and the conversion isn't listed as an option any longer on the website.
Will somebody please give me a reality check!

I think this babe in stainless would be a sweet little ticket. And although I have expressed distaste for his computerized, etched bling in the past, if he would really put a dinosaur drinking beer while riding a cowgirl on the cylinder, I would prolly still shot the snot out of it. Or I could do like I did on a few Ruger cylinders and just send to Harton to have him properly remove it.
Cannot wait to see what it turns out like in Stainless.

Looks like he has started saving money by using cheaper paper towels. Hope his prices reflect this reduction in quality.

Kinda blows the 22 mag away when you whip out the Bearcat THIRTY two...

True! That Harton 32 Bearcat is one of the COOLEST things I own.
IMO any custom Bearcat NEEDS nice sights, like a nice ramp front and J-frame rear - or better yet, a Clements Pre-War rear like Bowen uses.
