I came into a bunch or 30 carbine brass. Now I have to decide weather to sell the brass, buy a a new gun. I'm pretty sure I don't want a M1 carbine as I have AKs and ARs. The only other 30 carbine I found was a blackhawk. What do you guys think of the 30 carbine blackhawk?
Any other guns to consider?

I like the 30 Carbine in a Blackhawk. 110's @ 1,400 to 1,500 fps makes for a good small game rig. Flat shooting, accurate, and LOUD. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

I've got an old model .30 Blackhawk and like it alot. Only nit for me is that the brass length must be consistent, so as not to cause hard cyl rotation from too-longa brass.

Ditto on the LOUD part! You will only shoot one once without muffs, just once! And if I may ask whats wrong with an M1 Carbine? They are lots of fun, plenty accurate and reliable. I was blowing up cinder blocks once with one and a .44 mag Smith. The .30 round did a lot more damage to the blocks than the .44 did. Of course FMJ in the .30 and lead SWC in the .44 but still. Years ago I worked with a line packer in the mountains of Idaho who carried a Blackhawk .30 on the saddle. Said he used it to scare off bears! I believe it, its that loud.

you could also find a marlin levermatic in 30 carbine. a fast action, very accurate lever action rifle.

I got tired of loads not rotating in the cyl. because brass length was a hair too long. I sent one to Gary Reeder to rechamber to a 300 GNR and another one to Him a few months ago to rechamber to 327 Mag. Both are Great !

I'd rather have the .30 carbine Blackhawk and do what sal did and end up with a 327 Mag., then sell all the carbine brass and buy 327 brass. Another one not mentioned is the AMT 30 carbine autoloader which arent' all that rare. Ditto for plugs and muffs together, and maybe a set of shades for the fireball....

They do make nice convertibles. A second cylinder in 30 Streaker (or 300 GNR as Reeder calls it) is an option. Those rounds are capable of sending 85 - 110 grain bullets to 1,900 - 2,100 fps. -Lee www.singleactions.com"Building carpal tunnel one round at a time"

I imagine .30 carbine is .308", and isn't .327 closer to .311"?

The 30 carbine round is fun in the Ruger. Brass is not hard to keep the same length and once trimmed doesn't grow like bottle necked brass. I wouldn't mind having a 327 cylinder also but want to keep the 30 carbine cylinder.

I shot a 30 carbine Ruger years ago. It had a big 'crack' to it but was pleasant to shoot. Extraction would tough but overall I liked the model.

It's been many years since I have fired one, but I do recall that the noise level not something you could easily forget.

And if I may ask whats wrong with an M1 Carbine?
I think the M1 carbine is neat fun little rifle, but when compared to the AR-15 or AK it comes up short. I was going to get one for my daughter, until she took over my bushmaster. I do wish I had bought an M1 carbine when they were less expensive.
Corbin is making a 30 carbine with a DPX bullet which does move this round into a hole new level.

I bought one when they first came out and have been shooting them ever since. Great fun guns, but they are loud at full bore. I had Andy Horvath make up 32-20 cylinder for mine. Bore size is not an issue when you load your own.

The AK is certainly reliable and fun but not very accurate but who cares? My AR's (ArmaLite A2 and DPMS M4) are reliable and accurate but not very powerful but who cares? My M1 Carbine is reasonably accurate, fairly powerful, handy and reliable. But who cares?! I dont want to get rid of any of them. Love them all.
