Yesterday I received a PM from a member reminding me to get him a badger. Today I decided to make a little run north of town & see if I might get lucky. I threw in the Lipsey's 44 flattop & the little 32 maggie, I had some odds & ends of 32 I wanted to shoot up & ground squirrels were on the menu.
After busting several......& missing several (they are about 1 1/2"-2" wide when standing) I looked down next too a little pond & there was a big old badger, he was so full of ground squirrel sirloin he could hardly waddle, his opponent was full of pork chops & couldn't move much better! ;D
I stalked him for several minutes & got within 15 yds once but then he smelled me & took off, at about 65 yds I run 4 rounds of 32 his way at a full gallop, couldn't make it happen. I ran back to the truck for more ammo, my cartridge holder is in Pittsburg
I couldn't find him but I'll be back there tomorrow. Later I was gathering up some of the ground squirrels for a photo when I spotted a long pair of ears, they reminded me of a girl I went to school with. It was a old jackrabbit & as I eased the 44 special out of the Barranti crossdraw he slowly laid his ears down. At 32 yds the big Keith knocked his lips loose & I had finally blooded the 44 special.
I'll stay all day tomorrow looking for that badger, he was a dandy, real stocky built, kind of like Fermin, if you haven't seen Fermin he doesn't have a neck, his shoulders are just haired over. ;D this badger was the same way, hope I can find him.
