Okay guys.. We're sitting here with various 50 bore revolvers. If/when you buy another 50 Bore, Which 50 bore would it/will it be? Me? I'm torn between a 6 inch octagon custom Ruger 500L and a 6 inch octagon 500WE... I'll have both the only question is which will be first. Then that regular production Magnum Reseach 500JRH is pretty high up on my list too... It will most likely beat them all!

Axe, I'm not sure when/if I'll get another 50 caliber.......... but if I do............, at the top of my list is a 4",bisley vaquero similar to those owned by Lloyd Smale, Al Anderson, and Boge. My choice would be 500L.
and yep, the BFR in 500JRH is tempting, I just can't get over that grip frame. If it was in a bisley configuration, in a heartbeat.

Axe, Why not a custom Bisley with a 6" octagon barrel chambered in the 500JRH #2 (same as a 500JRH but uses the bigger 500SW belt and can chamber and shoot the 500JRH) If you don't want Jack Huntington building your gun Clements and others chamber this round, they call it the " 1.4" 500SW ". As much as I like Freedom Arms guns, I can't seem to warm up to there belted 50. On a side note I love the way my 6" 500Linebaugh bisley handles, best balancing gun I own.

I will only have one 500 and it is in the line at Dustin's now. Bisley Vaquero with a new type of barrel Dustin has been wanting to try. Since this will be my "Quest" gun from him I gave him free rein to get as creative as he wants so it ought to be fun when it gets done.

I can easily get enthralled by the Vaquero style customs but a quick sanity check brings me back to a hard requirement for adjustable sights.. Yeah I hear the old, "$%#! the Sights, Use the Force" but I just can't embrace the concept.... I do need, and will have 500L customs by Harton and Linebaugh but the price of a production MR BFR will be to good for me to stand back and not have one... If you boys could have seen my 4 inch FA 500WE stacking those bullets on top of each other last weekend you'd all be on the phone to Freedom Wyoming getting your own personal 500WE ordered today.

My favorite .50 is a 6" octagon WE once owned by Zeus. I'm sitting here with 4 .50's now, so there likely won't be another. If there is, it will likely be a 5 1/2"-6" stainless Dustin Linebaugh or Alan Harton octagon .500 L Bisley. Here's Zeus' ol' .500 WE factory fitted with different grips: Another WE, a FG with ivory micarta, and PG rear sight: And a FG .50AE, factory fitted with grips from the Alaska Master Guide series And an AE/ WE convertible that's been used quite a bit: The .510 could give me a bit more power, but I have no idea why I'd need it.

I have several of Gary Reeder's customs built on the Blackhawk platform in Gary's proprietary 510 GNR. Gary's quality is outstanding and his 510 can be had in a relatively mild 510 Short up to a 'kill the Cape Buffalo' loading. You can load them yourself or buy loads from Cartridge Performance at reasonable prices. Dave

I have been tempted by a 4" adjustible sighted Dustin Linebaugh 500L, I also want a 5 1/2" classic barrel banded style 500 too down the road...

Is the WE any harder to for, than the others. Seems like it would be the cheapest route for me, being a poor old farmer. Maybe find a used FA AE, and have a another cyclinder fitted.

That is exactly how I ended up with a 4.75 50AE FA and a 4 inch 500WE FA. Make sure you know what a cylinder is going to cost you before you start buying your 50AE.. Remember shipping two ways and such. You will find it pretty easy to run past the cost of an original 500WE.

I assume your asking is the 500WE harder to reload then more common cases, short ans...Nope...you have to be-careful of the belt when resizing and seat your bullet in one step then crimp in another but that round reloads and shoots just fine. As for being a poor farmer, BFR is the cheapest followed by a used Freedom Arms, next is Gary Reeder with his shooter package $1095+base gun, Jack Huntington conversions start at 1300, then 1900+ for customs from the big names, 2500+ from John Linebaugh and of course 3 years wait.

My next .50 will probably be the BFR in .500 JRH and I'll probably sell my BFR in .500 S&W. I seldom load over 1200 fps anyway so there's no real need to carry all the extra iron from a long frame BFR. Of course, if a good deal comes along on an FA in WE.....I'd be even happier going that route.

Dammit, no offense to Axehandle. but Bogies latest beauty has my heart!
I wonder if I could sweet talk him out of it for a decent price.
On second thought, eh I guess not.
Damn!

Loading the .500WE is very straightforward, with no problems. Unlike the .454 Casull, I seat and heavily crimp in 1 step with no problems. Thousands of rounds across 3 different WE's.
