TO THE OP: PLEASE ADVISE WHAT YOU CONSIDER TO BE A "BIG BORE" REVOLVER Me personally I generally consider 41 mag up as big bore, ymmv. Just gotta squeeze the .400's in, we all know the 401 Powermags are like lightning for anything on earth!

You've really asked the wrong group if you're hoping to be talked out of buying another revolver. If you can justify it to yourself, then who am I to object?
So far my largest is .454 but I am leaving my options open.

The .45 Colt Ruger/TC only loads or a .44 mag to the upper limits are really the only “big bores” I’ve ever shot. I admit to being curious about the .480 Ruger from reading about it here and other sources, but at this late date I’m not going to buy one unless it’s a killer deal. Either one of these aforementioned cartridges, as well as the .41 mag, will kill anything I’m going to hunt. I should have investigated these big bore before I contracted arthritis in both thumbs. I’m afraid the “big boomers” would be more punishment now than fun. I don’t even load my .44s or .45s to the limit anymore. The hogs don’t care, they die just as easily from a pussycat load as long as you hit them in the right spot.

The best reason to own a big bore revolver is simply this….TO SHOOT HEAVY BULLETS

I'll have to part ways with the general concensus on this thread.
Although we don't know everyone's age, I suspect most of us are far from young.
The best reason (and only one needed) is you want it.
Most of us have raised our families and it's perfectly OK just to buy something because you want it.
It doesn't matter if you buy it and send beer cans to their reward. Enjoy your life, you only get one...

Before Trail Boss went mia, I had worked out a wonderful load with the Arsenal 476-415 swc at 800fps from the Reeder Redhawk. Mild as any 45 Colt with the slow recoil, but would shoot through a broadside bull like tissue paper.
Just because it can be loaded stoopid doesn't mean that it has to be.

Haven’t shot them all but I’ve shot most between the say .41-.51 limits. There’ll always be a special spot for .44 Special & Magnum thanks to Elmer & Dirty Harry. There’ll always be a special spot for my 1st 5shot I personally built in .480 in my machine shop. There’ll always be a special spot for any thing .50 or .500 just because. But at the end of the day my personal go to will remain a 5shot .45 Colt- It does everything beneath it and in many cases equals the .454 and it does it all so very well.

I live just a few miles from Salmon, ID. Need I say more? In my younger years, I listened to all The Man's stories, and emptied few bottles of a good Burbon with him.

I only have the two Linebaugh cartridges and every time I light one off it’s almost as thrilling as fast dirt bikes or riding bulls and broncs in my younger days. I don’t bounce so good anymore but I can still pull a trigger.

I got into 44 special on account of its reputation for accuracy. Simple as that.

Well it's probably like the time we put a 496 big block in a Chevette.
Because I can!
