First time in the woods for the .44 4.2 Redhawk.First off this thing shoots and is easy to shoot. Second, it packs great. I used one of Big Bore's chest rigs. A match made in heaven. I bought it for bear protection but it is deffinately getting some woods time. Probabaly my favorite gun purchase this year.

Over the many years I've owned revolvers I always felt that the 4" barrel is a sweet spot in a field gun.

When I saw "little" and then the pic, ha ! Did remind me how foolish I was to part with the 4.2" M69 Smith. Gotta plug that hole here soon.

AS THE OWNER OF A 45 COLT MOUNTAIN REVOLVER I FEEL CONFIDENT IN ASSURING YOU THAT A 44 MAG IN A MOUNTAIN GUN WILL NOT BE "easy to shoot" WITH REGULAR 44 MAG LOADS.

Yes they are snappy but pretty accurate. I wouldn't mind having a .45 Just like this .44 either. I just missed grabbing a .41 Mountain Gun for about 2 bills less than they normally bring. Truthfully I don't need it but..........

Yeah, the word NEED gets stretched outta shaper often around her. My Uncle lived in the northern Penn hills all his adult life after WW2. He had access to the family farm and hunting camps. He had 3 guns, a Winchester made 1917 Enfield, chambered to 30-06, an Ithaca M37 16ga and a Colt Police Positive 38spec.. THAT'S IT !

We now as a whole have more disposable income than our fathers or grandfathers ever did. They had to dig and scratch for everything they got. We had a Rem. 22 rifle and a 410 shotgun around the house and of course BB guns when we had any bb for them and that was it. We boys got shotguns when we were about 12 or so. That 20 ga. Savage was the extent of my arsenal till I was 21 or 22 years old. I added a couple more over the years when the need or the want hit me.

35 years ago I had to scratch to pay the bills. I had what looked like an insurmountable amount of medical debt. It was a while before any gun was safe from being traded. I am truly thankful that I am able to grab another gun now and then without taking food off the table. We are all blessed people.

That need topic really sparked a memory my father had a 12 ga Browning Auto 5 a 22 Remington rifle and a K-22 for most of my memory than one day bought his only new gun ever when he bought a Browning Hi Power and don’t think he ever looked much prouder than buying his first New gun he was almost 50 when he did that! Makes me realize how fortunate we all are!
