What kind of wood is that? It is gorgeous!!! Amboyna Burl from Indonesia. All natural colors. I have enough to do another set. JRH has been trying to bribe me out of it but I'm hangin' tight. They are going onto my .414 SM after I get a RW bisley grip frame. DSCN1752 by WARDOG RENO, on Flickr

I wouldn't part with them either, they are beautiful grips!

I have a set of combats in Amboyna for a j-frame in the safe. Pretty wood.
Thinking about putting them on the nickel 36. Then I can send the ivories for scrimshaw.

I've got one. I'm not smart enough to put a picture of it on here though. 7.5 barrel bisly grip with a 2x scope. Don't shoot it much though because of the recoil. I should trade it in.

Down load it. 350-400gr at 8-900fps are pleasing to shoot, but still deliver a serious thump on anything up to an elk.

My load is currently 350s with 34gr of h110. That's just the load it likes I have a light unique load of a 8gr and a 350gr powder coated bullets it's easy to shoot with that load but I haven't sent any across a crono. My crono contracted a hole 🤣

I just picked up a 44 mag bfr...next year just may be the 500 jrh or 500 Lb. What red dot sight base are yall using? One looks like Gary Reeders base.

I'm just curious about this, are you JRH owners cutting down S&W 500 brass, getting the pricey not listed on Starline's site JRH headstamped brass at Buffalo bore, or just using 500 Special brass?

I have cut down 500S&W brass and a bunch of JRH stamped brass also. My BFR is cut to accept the S&W rim, haven't noticed any difference in loading either one.

When I bought mine there was no Starline brass available so I just ordered some ammo through Buffalo Bore and used it until Starline brass did become available. I have a 5.5 inch barrel with BFR's Bisley interpretation and absolutely love it. The Buffalo Bore ammo offerings are all whompstomers and when I got enough brass to reload I did some experimenting with Trailboss and found it much more comfortable even with handloaded 440 grain Matt's bullets.
I have since handloaded a number of different recipies but I've not had ample time to experiment with these.
I don't hunt much anymore but this gun is incredibly fun on one gallon water jugs. The 500 JRH is a versatile caliber and a lot of fun to add to the collection.
