I grew up listening to Hank Jr and knew he had an accident at one time. I never knew he had an accident to the extent that he did. Being in Montana for some reason this video came up. It explains the hat, glasses and beard. Gives one a different perspective even if he wasn't in line to be a deacon at the church. youtu.be/YDKvBWPuYQM?si=sR_wowTgFsotlhMk(You can skip ahead to 9:40 if you don't want to watch the whole episode)

"Lordy, I have loved some ladies, and I have loved Jim Beam, and they both tried to kill me in 1973".
You go, Hank Jr.

With an indoor underground range and passion for S.A's, always figured he was amongst us here. Do not want to know...but a happy thought.

He's definitely lucky to have made it through his fall. Sure glad he did, I love the old interviews when he talks guns.
Finding a gun from Hank's collection is on my bucket list. Preferably an "ole 45" or a "Smith and Wesson Magnum 44"!

2 or 3 years ago he was recognized at a music award show. The father and son who were with him during the fall attended and were recognized as well. The son was a teenager or preteen at the time and had to stay with Jr and keep him awake while his dad went for help.

Interesting stuff. Years ago was shooting with a friend and he dug out the “Hank”gun as he referred to it. 7.5” in 500 Linebaugh. We shot it abit that day and if I recall it was a gun John built for Hank long ago. My friend still has it as far as I know. Wish I had taken pictures

Hank Jr. is definitely a SA fan & especially Rugers. I know folks who have purchased guns owned (and verified) by Hank Jr. he used to slip around some of the older gun shows to discuss Rugers & such with the collectors. I THINK I recall him being a RCA Field Rep at one time long ago.

He’s used a Phoenix symbol similar to the Ruger logo over the years.
He’s one guy I would like to meet. Especially would like to hang out with him back in the day!!!! He’s lived a wild life. A man’s man!!!!! Modern day Hemingway, Ruark etc.

Ran into him at a gun show in Louisville Ky a couple of years ago. He was looking at some engraved Colt single actions. Couple of guys walking with him, no fan fair just another guy enjoying the show.

I grew up and lived in Missoula Montana until moving here to Alaska in 91. I worked at Bitteroot Motors in the 80's up to 91, the Ford and Toyota dealership there in Missoula. Hank came in an bought a couple Landcruisers over the years I worked there. He had BLKHWK on the license plate of one of his rigs. He loved to go 4 wheelin in mtns of MT. Hank Jr and his bride frequented the Bitteroot Valley to and from his place to Missoula and would stop in at a few of the local establishments along the way. My step dad delivered/sold beer and wine to those places from Missoula to Darby. Some of the locals didn't care for him much cuz he wouldnt always sing them a song when he stopped in. I suspect he just wanted to pass through and not be bothered. I get it. On another note. My Daughter was born in Missoula 83 with a cleft pallet (no cleft lip thankfully) and the surgeon that did her pallet repair in 84 was the same surgeon that worked on Hank Jr.

In that video he's shooting a brass frame stag handled gun I'm guessing is a 44 Magnum

I went to one of his first concerts after the accident at Burley, Idaho at the fair & one of the band members talked about the accident a little bit during the introduction. On his tour bus it said "Cheating Heart Special". At one time during his concert he played every instrument in the band, he was very talented. One of my Hogdon's manuals has a section where he does the load write up on the 44 special or the 45, I'd have to look. Interesting guy, seems to hang out with some character named "venturino"!!!
