With 41 mags in 4-5/8", 7-1/2" and 8-3/8" barrels, I've found Accurate #9 and VVN105 to be excellent powders for top loads. HS-6 and Longshot work extremely well for lighter loads in the 1,000-1,150 fps range.

Nice acquisition campfire, and looks to be in excellent condition. I’d like to have another one in a 5.5” barrel, but I don’t recall ever seeing one. ...only 5.5" .41 Ruger ever made was a stainless Bisley. They come up for sale once in a while on the auction sites but usually sell for over a grand. www.gunbroker.com/item/948526692While I prefer blued revolvers, I would take that in a heartbeat, but probably not at that price. My .41 is a 6.5” plowhandle but when I get my current project back I may just change that. I’m thinking a #5 or Potato Judge from RW Grip Frames and a barrel lopping wouldn’t cost that much.

Congrats on joining the 41 magnum community. I have four, a 6.5" old model Ruger Blackhawk, a 4 and 6" S&W Model 57 and a 10" T/C Contender. You can't go wrong with a 41.

I've never lost a deer when shot with a 41 mag, I also have all 4 barrel lengths Blackhawks, yes, the 5 1/2" is the stainless bisley, the 7 1/2" is the Hunter, and probably my favorite. Enjoy your new 41

$1 magnum's are like Rabbits. Before you know it you have many, I have 4 at this time. 3 screws in 4 5/8ths and 6.5 , a NM Bisley 5.5 and a 7.5 inch Redhawk, Would jump on a 57 or 657 at the right price...tj

You're going to enjoy that Blackhawk.. mine came with the nicest slickest factory action I've ever felt in a Ruger. It too is a 4,5/8" length. It be in the final toss up for the last gun I'd ever give up!

…I also have all 4 barrel lengths Blackhawks, … I’m trying to do the same in stainless, lacking only the 4 5/8”. Still kicking myself for not going ahead & springing for both when I picked up the 6 1/2”er.

I wonder how many stainless BHs they made in .41...could not have been many...the were only on the market for a short time.

I wonder how many stainless BHs they made in .41...could not have been many...the were only on the market for a short time. I think I remember hearing a number at the time. Like 500 of each, maybe? I saw a few on GB for a couple months & then poof. All gone. I’d think as quickly as that run sold, they’d do another batch every now & again, kinda like how they did with the .41 SBH Hunters.
