Hi all,
I have an inexpensive Lee one that I don't use much because fine powders like Accurate No. 9 and W296 leak out. I'm not picky, I just want one that doesn't leak (or leaks very little), is pretty accurate with each powder dispensing amount, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. What have you all had good experiences with?

RCBS Uniflow with no close second... RCBS has seemed to be the best rated from what I've seen on MiswayUSA. Glad to hear you had the same experience.

Every time I think about getting a new powder measure, I remember how darn accurate this old Herter's measure has been. Every time I use it I stop and check the throw and in some 35 years I have never had to reset it. And it doesn't leak at all no matter what powder I'm using.

Having trouble finding them in stock right now. Shocking, right? Are the Hornady powder measures any good?

Not sure if the old style is available here is the new version I think. He needs to test it out with Unique, that's the test of all tests it seems! LOL! I got ahold of a couple of Lyman 55's because I heard they worked with Unique, no luck yet, still 'sperimentin with 'em though. youtu.be/da5S6plQhYo

I've got am RCBS and a Lyman 55. I've used Unique in the RCBS without any problems.

The uniflow is great and also the little Dandy bit individual rotors are getting spendy. Check the Dandy rotor table for powder weight and rotor compatabolity. www.huntingtons.com/ref_lil-dandy.pdf

RCBS Uniflow with no close second... So after fighting with Unique for quite some time I finally bought one off ebay and it seems like this advise it right! Have you tried any of the accessories to use a longer drop tube? They have some quick change set ups that look promising. Do you know if they'll fit an older measure?

Well, everything I have is older. I put Micrometer Plungers on both mine. I keep one set up in large piston and one in small piston.
The only long drop tube I have is for my 17 Ackley Hornets.

Reckon Fred Huntington’s Rock Chuck Bullet Swage (RCBS) Uniflow measures outsells all others on the planet better than a half century worth. Fred Huntington sold RCBS to the Leisure Group 40+ plus years ago; after which quality dipped. When I asked him about it, Huntington shook his head, “It’s a shame.” Either side of that slump, the RCBS Uniflow screams durable consistency. So many matches have been won just throwing charges for a Uniflow to guess is futile.
i carry a heavy preference for the drum adjustment. The Redding Bench Rest occupies same favored status on my bench.. I use the old wall-closing-in-on-you arrangement as well, my go-to the Custom Products measure by Neil Jones. Never cottoned to the Ideal or Lyman. Harrell and Neil Jones measures chop stick powder better than a drum measure. Yet, mailing a .338 out yonder from thrown changes of stick powder finds no fault with either type in rifles I shoulder.
For handgun silhouette, the RCBS Uniflow and Redding Bench Rest measures ripped up the Firing Line. The RCBS Uniflow and Redding are what I call ADJUSTABLE PISTON measures. I throw the Neil Jones Custom Products measure into that mix. The Neil Jones Custom Products measure is a precision machined stainless steel measure with an adjustable rotating drum, an ancient design used by Belding & Mull, Lyman, Harrell, Culver, etc., and standard gear of bench rest competitors.
Not sure I ever shot a silhouette match with a weighted charge; unless there was no alternative and I needed the ammo. Richard Beebe of Redding described, years ago, a test he ran with weighed vs thrown charges. Couldn’t see a difference on the target. However, Beebe demonstrated the importance of a solid base for throwing charges from the measure. Told me the Redding cast iron (cast steel?) MEASURE STAND produced more consistent throws than with measure champed to bench. I tried to duplicate Richard Beebe’s test, but with my skill was unable to discern a difference at the target. Talking about throwing charges of STICK POWDER. David Bradshaw
