There it is. Define your Single Action for Self Defense. If you had to carry a SA or a pair or SA's all day every day for TWO LEGGED rannys what would you pick? Old Model? New Model?? Caliber? Would you like something that is not made? Looking for a concept here. We better go ahead and add in a companion lever action carbine. Winchester? Marlin?? Caliber? Barrel length? My mind wants to wander back to the Croft light weights.... Whats yours, Fermin?

4” Horvath L’il gun in 41 Special or USFA 3 1/2” Double Eagle in 45 Colt. Both wear bisley hammers. Still playing with leather ideas.

Frank No one mentioned it because I hadn't replied yet. That is exactly what my choice would be.... and is. I carry it in a Threepersons holster built by Red Nichols and my load is cast Lyman 454424 with enough Unique to push it 900 fps. My rifle is a 1940's Win 94 30-30 or Marlin Cowboy ltd 45 Colt. Dan

These two get the nod from me. A Tyler New Vaquero in .357/9mm convertible or a Harton 44 Mag if more horsepower is desired. Both ride in Simply Rugged's carried IWB. Nothing conceals a revolver better for me. For a lever action , a 357 Marlin with Ranger Point Precision peep sight

My avatar gun, 3.75” full size Vaquero, 45 colt with an XS sights express sight meant for a shotgun dovetailed into the topstrap and a Ruger SS sight base soldered on top with a FO front sight, it’s easily seen in low light. Bisley gripped, and runs 265gr WFN or JHP’s at 1200fps. For leather, the most comfortable holster ive found so far is a Thad Rybka strongside that is his crossdraw converted to strongside, Doc Barranti is supposed to make a tribute version of it soon. I’ve carried my 4” 500L in it all day for a week while hiking after elk, and carried my avatar gun in it under a lightweight fishing shirt here in Texas heat. The little 45 colt surprises me at how accurate and easy shooting it is, and being polished SS it’s obvious to folks you have something in your hand.

How made the holsters Longhunter? One on the left was made by ElPaso Saddlery and on the right by Cochise Leather.

45 Colt Montado slicked up by Alan Harton. I've worn this under a jacket while running errands in town on several occasions.

I'm a 45 guy in this conversation. This has a steel grip frame but I have an aluminum that I can easily swap to save some ounces.
