It currently has a BSA Sweet 17 scope on it, & this is the one I've posted asking about a fix for the sticky rubber armoring... of course I can't find a scope specifically "calibrated" to the Mach 2 ( the Mach 2 is a factory 22 LR case necked down to 17 caliber ) & while it sounds tiny & worthless, it's more than proven it'self on coons, possums, & red pine squirrels over several years... the BSA Sweet 17 is also calibrated for the 17 HMR , not the Mach 2... I'm looking at 4-12 ish Rimfire scopes, & unfortunately Luepold doesn't have anything except their cheaper "freedom" line, & those only go 3-9 X... the 2 I'm looking at right now, to replace the BSA, are a Nikon Prostaff Rimfire, & a Hawke Vantage Rimfire... I don't own a Hawke scope yet, but both of these are similar in price 1st... any thoughts on the Hawke scopes??? these are the 2 scopes I'm looking at... www.midwayusa.com/product/1018879478/hawke-vantage-rimfire-rifle-scope-4-12x-40mm-adjustable-objective-red-and-green-illuminated-reticle-mattewww.midwayusa.com/product/543833/nikon-prostaff-rimfire-ii-rifle-scope-1-tube-4-12x40mm-bdc-150-reticle-matteany others worth a look???

I like the look of that Hawke scope, but no nothing about it.
I have the Nikon rimfire 3-9x40 and like it a lot. I've never shot it more than 100 yards, but it sure gets the job done. Mine is mounted on a ~ ca. 2008 Ruger 10/22, plastic trigger group and all but it shoots 3/8" groups at 50 yards with the right ammo (on the right day, with a credible shooter behind the trigger).

Hawke also made a Vantage scope with the 17M2 reticle, but it was only 3-9x, and it's been discontinued. Model 14224. There are a few out there on the net, but very few.
Depending on the range that you generally shoot, that Hawke that you linked, with the HMR reticle, should work fairly well, as your BSA probably did. There's a bullet drop chart over on the rimfirecentral 17M2 forum that shows bullet trajectories for the M2(17 grain), HMR(17 and 20 grain) and .22LR(40 grain). The M2 and the 20 gn. HMR stay within about a quarter inch out to 100, and a half inch of each other out to 125 yards.
That probably didn't help, but it's all I've got. Don

Thanks for the post... I didn't have the info on the Hawke scopes... did a search for that model, & see there is at least one or two still out there for sale... but all are 3 X 9, & $159.00 each... the Nikon 4 X 12 is on sale right now at $109.00 which seems like a very good value...

This little 17M2 has become my favorite contender round. I have a full bull rifle contender barrel. I had a practically new 14" contender barrel that I loaned out back in 2011. I got it back last summer when ammo was near impossible to find. Then the ammo became available again and Ive been shooting it at least once a week. this lil 14" barrel at 50 yds may just be the best shooting barrel Ive ever owned and it is such a joy to shoot.
My 17M2 contender rifle has a Mueller 8.5-25x50 on it. At 50 yds, the 14" with a leupy 2.5x8 can hang with it. At 100yds, the rifle glass definitely has the advantage.

I have a older Leopold 3x9 VX2 Rimfire with a adjustable objectice on my Kimber Pro Varmint Mach 2. Thought I would need more scope, but this does fine for me. I am looking at a Hawke for another Kimber in .22LR. Nikon glass is ok, but adjustments are typical asian scope quality for that price range.

"unfortunately Luepold doesn't have anything except their cheaper "freedom" line"
Not so. This works great on my Kimber: Leupold Vx-2 4-12x40mm, Fine Duplex, Adjustable Objective
Zeroed at 60yds it's still minute-of- squirrel head at 125 or so.

Guessing it is also a 17 Mach 2 ( factory 22 LR case necked down to 17 caliber )... they are pretty flat shooting... a great round that is pretty much unknown to most shooters... it's a great round to shoot around the farm, as it's flat shooting, deadly on bigger critters than you would expect, & there is little chance of a ricochet
BTW... I ended up ordering the Nikon scope... it's here & seems pretty decent... just haven't had the time to sight it in yet, so I haven't mounted it yet, in case I need the rifle

that is what it looked like to me, as I didn't find any for sale at all the "usual" places... I think the "Freedom" line has replaced the VX-2... or the VX-R, which all seem to have 30mm Tubes... the Nikon seems pretty decent, just need to find the time & mount & sight it in... & actually the BSA Sweet 17 hasn't been a terrible scope ( it's killed a lot of critters over the years ) I just hate that sticky rubber armoring in the worst way...
