Finally tried my hand at casting and coating, after reading many experiences here. I want to thank this group for keeping me inspired to go down this road. They aren't perfect, aren't the most pretty, but they should work. I think. Got some funny looks from the neighbors as they watched me running around with thick leather gloves trying to throw cedar wood chips into a smoking pot. Learned a lot along the way. Much more to learn. Looking forward to the next session. Mold for these is the Miha 314-640 115 gr.

I like the orange. The first time I powder coated a cast bullet I used red and when I showed my wife my first cast and coated .480 Ruger she said it looked like lipstick. Yep I heard the sound of my bubble being burst.

First time out and you use a hollow point mold!! Great job!! I am too new to know better! That Miha mold made it pretty simple...once I got the mold temp up, the bullets fell right off the pins with just a little tapping at the handle hinge. Admittedly, many duds went back in the pot before I had a string of keepers. Even, then...some duds showed up throughout the process.

I got a bunch of great looking bullets my first time casting too. 200+ infact, only a week or so later did I realize the bands weren't filled out all the way. Oh well I lubed and shot them anyways. Even though I've cast a few thousand bullets now I still have trouble here and there. I'll get a rhythm going, then either the pot will empty or something will happen to break it, then I can't get it back. I still get quite a few rejects which go back in the pot while I'm casting.
I powder coat with clear now. I can't get with the colors.

115 gr gc They look like they are ready to hotrod! What are you going to shoot them through? Single seven? 327 fed or 32 mag?

115 gr gc They look like they are ready to hotrod! What are you going to shoot them through? Single seven? 327 fed or 32 mag? Will be loading this weekend, and trying them in the Single Seven. Will have to check overall length as to a 327 vs a 32 Mag cartridge.

The Miha 115 has to be deep seated a bit but like all the 640 designs they thrive on versatility.
Load to 1.50” OAL under a healthy charge of H110 and your going to find its fast, flat and deadly!

Bones; they look real good to me also ! My first casting session I was too chicken to use my Mihec molds. So I used a Lee 476/400 . I got more rejects than I did keepers that first time. But I learned Lots.

Bones, I'd say you did a fine job for your first run, the bullets look great & will shoot the same! Like the color too. Some of Fermin's loads are so hot his cylinder falls out just like yours............

Thanks all for the kind and encouraging words. Bones, I'd say you did a fine job for your first run, the bullets look great & will shoot the same! Like the color too. Some of Fermin's loads are so hot his cylinder falls out just like yours............ Dick I've officially joined Fermin's "Shoot A Bullet That Fits Your Gun" cult. I figured I needed to have photographic evidence to show him that I was at least making an effort...
