Casting definitely has a learning curve, and sometimes once you think you've got it sorted out, something new comes along to make you say Huh? As far as throwing the rejects back into the pot, wait until it's time to refill it. That helps to keep the temperature of the lead constant. I don't know if this has been mentioned or no, but there is a wealth of casting knowledge at the Cast Boolits forum.

Things will improve with use. It takes about three casting sessions with a new MiHec mold to reach nirvana. Take a carpeter's pencil and coat the HP pins and sliders for a trouble free release.

Loaded up these 115-640s in .32 Mag cases today over some Unique, and shot them out of a Single Seven. Grouped really nicely, and no leading. I'm pretty excited to see these work so well.
Next up will be taking Fermin's advice for deep seating in a .327 case.
Any tricks to know for deep seating? potential complications?

Next up will be taking Fermin's advice for deep seating in a .327 case. Any tricks to know for deep seating? potential complications? Deep seating is simple enough, but you have to seat in one step and crimp in a second step in my experience. If you are single stage loading where you would normally seat and crimp in one step, I put a .125" thick spacer under the lock ring on my sizer so it wont go into the press far enough to crimp. Then I seat the bullets to my chosen depth, take the spacer out and screw the die all the way down on the press as I normally would. The back your seater stem way out, well beyond the .125" difference the spacer gave you, you dont want the stem touching the bullet nose now, and crimp you bullet in place. Be aware you have reduced the powder capacity and thus upped the pressure of the load, to varying degrees depending on the powder and charge weight. But it works well and seems to produce very accurate loads. I have been doing this quite a bit for my Single Seven of late.

One will have issues when seating and crimping at the same time. Step back and look at it. The nose punch is still trying to push the bullet deeper while the case is trying to crimp a moving bullet.
A bit more time but end results are well worth it.
I see some get by with it on jacketed............... Jeff

THIRD casting session today. Cast some more Miha 314-640 115 gr HP...and as you guys predicted...it seemed to get throwing good examples sooner than the first use. Also used the Miha 314-640 140 gr mold with penta HP in place These look like they mean business! Was dropping great bullets almost immediately. Pretty cool. ![](https://i.imgur.com/rweJf5n.jpg)

Those look great. And they are more fun than a wheel barrow full of quarters and a slot machine....

Looks like you got a handle on it look pretty good the first time, but like everything the more you do it the more you pay attention the better it gets. Nice-looking bullets I'm sure they shoot as good as they loom
