I love the 45 Colt and have decades of good service from it, including a pile of good venison. But if I was starting all over today, my hunting revolver would be a 480 Ruger.

I have both and voted for the .45. It's really hard to beat a .45 Colt. I LOVE my 480...but have to agree with this if I ONLY had one!

Post talley, add another for the 45 Colt.
Universal caliber, easy to find fodder/bullets for. With the right load, will do anything ya need it to.

Another post tally vote: The 5.5" .45 Colt, hands down. And if there was a choice between 4.5" .45 Colt and 5.5" .45 Colt, I'd choose the shorter.
