Gee,, that sweet looking dog should have been able to handle a possum all by herself. She is a looker though! She certainly is which is why I leave any heavy work to my other B/T Susie..... She`s the tough one of the two, however, to read some of the comments I`ed almost think they a saying that Scar is a pussy....

Haha! I could lend you one of my terriers (a boy and a girl), James! They'll take care of those pesky possums! Whit, How many possum have you terriers taken care off??I watched them have a tug-o-war once with a live possum. It was ugly. Terriers are hardwired to kill small animals.

We had 2 dogs for a time that kept squirrels, birds, stray cats and everything else out of the yard. They were fast and could really jump high... a mixed breed involving wolf, husky and golden retriever. They were so beautiful. One looked like a large white German Shepherd and the other looked like a Dr. Suess dog with long, curly, golden fur.

Possums are weird, ugly, disease ridden creatures. I wouldnt let my american bulldog fight em either. Disgusting creatures they are.

I generally don’t “let” them get into it with any wild animals, it just happens sometimes. James, I would have shot it as well. Rabies is prevalent in lots of animals. It took balls to pull your snubby out in where you reside and bust a cap in a possum - LOL!

My long gone American Bulldog "Snug" (Guns spelled backwards) was frustrated in that she could never catch a squirrel..... Walking the same tracks she spots a good size ground hog and fakes a bite to the right and goes to the left and gets hold of the back neck... One bite and one shake latter the critter was dead....She must have taken out all the lost squirrels on that ground hog.....

American bulldog vs ground squirrel TM, Ground hog not squirrel..... Snug`s is gone now about 10 or so years..... She was the smaller type A.B..... One time I stopped just outside Holland Tunnel entrance for light when bum comes up to clean windshield...she just watched until he lifted wiper and hit inside windshield to get `em..... He ran backwards for 20 feet..... Kinda funny since the bum had a limp walking to my car that disappeared when he ran backwards...

As noted,,, we are poking a little fun here James.
And as for possums,,,, they do not normally carry rabies,, due to their body temp. It's one of the few animals the state of NC allows me to relocate. Other critters,,, that can carry rabies I'm not allowed by law to relocate.
Possums are "easy money" for me.

WH, I talked with a breeder that said some other breeders are making the ears shorter.... My first B/T ears were an 1" or 2" longer then Scar`s to help kick up their prey`s scent when sniffing the grass...What`s a B/T without looooong ears... The only other expression I`ve heard was when I meet a black guy who was in charge of the B/T`s on some big plantation down south who told me my Daisy (1st B/T) was a Rocky Mtn. breed with longer then normal legs to go after the cats in rocky terrain out west.......
