Picked mine up today. Allows a loaded C.O.L. of 1.65". Chambers tighter than Single Sevens as are the throats. Brass fired in S7 will not chamber in GP100. Throats are a very tight .313". Will likely be DA #1... Edited out a mistake on my part. Sorry Huey, I have 32-20 case length imprinted in my brain and I'm always thinking about rechambering these bigger 32's to 32-20 or other large case 32 caliber wildcat and putting a Sledgehammer bullet in front of it. So I need room for 1.715 COAL for a 32-20 to work and that just won't get out of my head all the time....

No problem. Reeders 321 GNR (32/357 Mag) would fit in this package with a simple rechamber.

Anyone offer dies? I pick up my blued 5" 327 GP100 tomorrow. Sounds like it would be the perfect cartridge for a lever gun as well with a 32 barrel rechamber on a 357 mag Rossi or Win/Browning m92.

I sure will, but I need the molds, All I have for bullets are some older 95 grain soft cast RN. don't care for jackets but may have to buy a box or two to start with. I'm hoping it likes the 140-640

Wildcatter
How (what mounts) do you intend to scope it? I was thinking I wanted the 4" version, but you've got me thinking about the 6" gun with a scope.

I will probably use this and a Burris 2x7 for initial testing. When I am done testing and go back to the reflex, (small distant targets are to much for the fixed sights with these old eyes anymore), I'll probably keep this mount on after I put the fastfire back on. www.jackweigand.com/Ruger-GP100-Scope-Mounts-No-Drill.htmlI have a mini for the Fastfire waiting if I decide to use the smaller mount, the gun is Supposed to be here Monday or Tuesday, don't ask,,,,, but here is the mini, it will be John Wayne strong for this little sight on this caliber for the weight of the gun, I really doubt there will be any recoil to speak of. But this little base is not intended for scopes. www.jackweigand.com/Ruger-Revolver-Mini-Mount.html

Both mounts look pretty slick. Thanks for the info.
I've got a few large bore guns with scopes, but nothing like subject gun & hadn't really thought of it til seeing your post. Not sure which direction I'll go.

Well Well it's gonna be a good day catters world today,, the good Lord willing! Just got the confirmation at 7am the GP-100 is at the local post office and out for delivery! I should get the call about mid afternoon, and will be in the area when I get it! Along with my cleaning kit,,, and 50 rounds of mixed 120 flat nose and 100 grn. XTP's to stop by and blast away at the range. I think I will find if I sight this in it will be pretty consitent with the same POI using most loads due to the overly heavy barrel? It's really to cold to do much heavy load work right now anyways, and fer the next couple weeks at least, the Ice fishing is trumping other activity. I have had a pretty good year the last 3 weeks walkin on ice and chasing my Lake Gators. I have more over 37" this year than I ever have. Plus after not having ice for the two years and barely enough to get on 3 years ago for a very few weeks, I'm catching up quick. and this month is when the big girls really start hitting. Around here 40" Northern are rare, and these new private Lakes I was lucky enough to get a lot on I gotta spend time there this year as I may not have any ice next year, and it truly does offer the opertunity for 42 to 45 inch Pike on these waters.

Well I finally got it, picked it up Fri. evening, after stopping and fireing 15 or 20 rounds brought it home and got it stripped, cleaned everything, did a little polishing on the action, and some primary cleaning up of the engagements, changed the trigger return spring, and got the Weigand Mini mount, and Burris FFIII mounted. So this afternoon with the wind cutting 25 mph gusts and in between other things I had to do with the wife, I made a quick trip trip to the range with 3 jacketed loads, and two cast loads, and decent trigger at 2lbs 13oz. I am very happy for the first trip with a brand new gun, let alone in these condition, as well as a brand new caliber to me! I had 2-loads using H110, and 100 grain XTP's. and one with #9 and the XTP's. The 12.0 grn load of #9 shot 7 shot group just over 3/4". I could almost call it 3/4" but it is just over. This alone was a successful trip as far as I am concerned. Then of the 2-120 grn FN cast bullets I had I also see promise with the plain base. Just over 1" 7 shot group, using 11 grains of #9, and no signs of leading. No chrony today but I will get around to that in time. I am not expecting great speeds with a BC gap of .008". I need to cleanup just a tad bit more on the trigger, and it does have slightly loose .212 throats, I have to tap the XTP's thru, with one right on .212" I have to force the 212 cast slug thru that one, so in time I will throat everything to .3135, and maybe have the barrel set back one thread and tighten the BC gap and recut the crown. But till weather gets better and I have more time to spend on the range, I am happy with the investment. I'll get some better pictures tomorrow when I get some time. But got 4 or so inches of snow coming tonight to cleanup tomorrow. If the wind slows down I may try and tweak that XTP load to. I almost forgot, I replaced the tiny grip that come on it with a Hogue decelerator grip I had from my 480 SR, it fits my big paw much better!

My LGS has a 4" GP-100 327 that I got to look at yesterday. I love the heft of the gun and I'm sure it handles the hottest 327 rounds with ease. I'm going to have a really hard time not going back to get it.
