That looks like the material the Cary Chapman got samples of and made a set of grips out of. It sure looks like the real thing from the pictures. Yes, that's the same stuff. I got a set of the blanks but haven't made anything from it yet. Those are good pics that 58cal posted. They show the material very well.

I've been wondering about this for a while, being stuck behind enemy lines in NY. Can anyone explain this to me? I can kinda' understand the elephant thing. They're worried that elephants will get hunted to extinction because poachers are just killing them for their ivory. Doug
[/quote] I doubt outlawing the sale of ivory has had any impact on ivory poaching. In fact I'd venture a guess it had the opposite effect by removing the legal market competition. With no market for legally taken ivory the sky is now the limit for black market ivory. A few years back the prime minister of Kenya made such a big deal about burning those many thousands of pounds (or tons) of confiscated ivory. If instead of burning it he had be able, and willing, to put it on the legal market it very likely would have crashed the black market value for ivory. With the severe restrictions and/or complete ban on the import/sale of legally taken ivory, poaching will do nothing but increase as the black market demand in countries not as "enlightened" as us, continues to exist.

To me it’s like the emissions laws(Paris accord), it doesn’t matter what we do as a country if the rest of the world makes no efforts to control it. Ivory is still getting harvested and sold, just not to us.

So I just received my blanks from Guitarparts ,I ordered them based on this thread, and they look great!!! Although I have only seen ivory in it's finished stage, these blanks look like ivory to me. The grain pattern throughout looks like the real thing. I can't wait to see how they look finished and fitted to a sixgun. By the way, a great transaction with these folks!
