Maybe this should be in the "Reloading" section. But, I'm putting it here. Starline has 45 Cowboy Special brass listed now. It's headstamped 45 SPL and works perfectly in my Ruger Blackhawk 45 acp cylinder with .003" headspace. Thought some of you guys might want some. www.starlinebrass.com/brass-cases/45-Cowboy-Special/

Now this isnt the 45 auto rim right? This would be like the cut down 45 Colt brass? Thanks

Got my order in. Got some from American Cowboy Ammo last year, seemed to be good brass, but they don't appear to be selling brass alone anymore.

Would this brass have any utility in a model 97 .45 colt for the longer nosed bullets?

Would this brass have any utility in a model 97 .45 colt for the longer nosed bullets? A better option might be the 45 Schofield brass. Or just deep seat the bullet like David Bradshaw does.

To me, it's pretty much a plinking load that you can use to lob lead at rabbits. Though the case is the same length as .45 ACP, I don't know if it could be used to reproduce .45 ACP vels for the same bullets. I have not tried to but it would interesting. I have gotten about 620 fps with about 200 gr RN using 5.2 gr of Unique. I doubt the case would take another whole gr of Unique.

This really sounds like a good idea.. Some of the auto rim loads, with the std .45 acp cylinder, or with longer nose boolits.

Make my share of typos. Reckon you don’t mean to imply there’s .003-inch clearance between cylinder & breech face to fit a rim. David Bradshaw

David Bradshaw No, I mean with a case in the chamber, there is .003" between the case head and breech face. Hope this simplifies the statement enough.

You just have to watch for proud primers, I guess. Also, you could loob/wax the breech face! Hmmm... mirror polished breech faces would actually be my kinda bling. It would be totally understated and hidden. Where did I put that can of Flitz?! HEEE HEEE
