Just got an SP101 in 327 but haven't shot it yet, been too cold! I'm surprised a .311" bullet will shoot well in your 32 maggie, seems undersize to me but that just goes to show you that every gun is different. I'll be shooting in the next few days with 3-4 different bullets, none will be sized .311", at least to start with. They will be powder coated.

Sounds like you may have one of Ruger's undersized cylinder throated SP's. My .32-20 and my SS .32 mag had undersized cylinder throats at .312 and normal bores. My 8-shot .327 had normal cylinder throats at .314.

Dick Dick, please let me know your findings...I have a few 125s at .313 I will try tomorrow out of 327 brass...I need to order some bullets from Montana BW but I need to get the sizing down. I would really like to get that 125 to work around 1150/1200 fps if possible...Thanks Frank

Frank, this photo should answer your questions. This SP101 is the one Dick has now.

That you are successfully shooting .311" bullets down a .312" barrel is all part of the wonder of a sixgun. I have measured a bunch of Ruger Single Six 32 magnums and they are rarely over .310" which in my opinion is completely wrong for a .312" bore with cast bullets. As for the newer Single 7 and SP101 327, I have found the throats to be .313" across the board. Thus, I shoot a .3135 bullet through mine. Are you measuring the diameter of your bullets with a dial caliper or a micrometer?

My SP101 4.2" has .313"+ throats. But a .314" pin gauge won't quite fit.

Fermin, I am using a dial caliper...And on my 32 ss (1988 production) it is interesting I can drop .311 down the cylinder and all 6 chambers hold the bullets...on my sp 101 I have 4 throats that will mic out .310/311 one is .313 and the 6th one is .3145. And the ss when I slugged the bbl .311s are very very tight...fwiw Thanks Ps those grips above look and feel good on my sp 101...

Hello Frank, I've either been chasing grandson's playing basketball all over SE Idaho or dodging cold weather. But yesterday I did run a cylinder full of 113 gr. GC HP's through the SP101 I picked up from Fermin. These slugs are sized .313" & were loaded with 5.5 grs. of Longshot because that's what I had with me in the truck. I always keep a lot of different ammo in the storage box of my truck. My target of choice were some small pieces of brick out the window (minus 4 degrees) at about 20-22 yds. guessing. As you could see in Fernin's photo it has a fiber optic front sight which showed up very well on the south side of a dirt berm. The odd pieces of brick were small 1-2" in size mostly & hitting them with 5 of the 6 shots was quite easy, didn't see where the first shot went. Wasn't expecting the trigger to be as good as it was & it surprised me. This little 327 maggie is going to be a real fun gun for field use & I'll take it Jackrabbit hunting as soon as I get more ammo on hand with this 113 gr. HP. On the way out of our range I noticed where a fox had been going back & forth in the snow to a den hole in the lava rocks so I turned off the truck & with my window down I started a soft squawl with my mouth. After about 15 seconds I saw the nose of the fox just barely stick out the hole from the safety of the lava rocks but he quickly knew what was up even though I was starting my trigger pull. He knew the game & won this time, maybe later!

Frank, I'm guessing my slugs are a bit over .313" even though they've been run through a .313" sizer because you always get a bit of spring back after sizing. I didn't actually measure them with my mic but that's usually the case.

I have a 4" barrel SP101 in .32 H&R Mag and use .313" home cast NOE copy of the RCBS 98 gr. SWC. It will shoot under an inch off a rest at 25 yards: My pistol smith thought I was losing my mind when I asked him to mount a Red Dot sight on this revolver. However, the rear sight was only adjustable for windage and I couldn't zero it. With my aging eyes, the Red Dot is my solution... and-d-d, it works! Dale53

Be sure & put some powder in there, the Dawg is famous for those "Corpus Christi Cream Puffs" in his 327's! Just saying!
