... those details are what makes Alan special. To say he is a gunsmith does not give him enough credit. The word Master belongs in there somewhere.

You know all these after pics just reminded me...when you talk to Alan about any of it, his usual response is along the lines of "Ohhhh....it's just a little weldin'...ain't that hard". Yeeeeaaahhhh... not to him I guess. But like we discussed last week...the details matter. Very much. And h is all about those little details. Like the frame fouling cut. If you didn't know to look for it, you would never miss it....or it could be done just filing off the ends.of the barrel threading and be "good enough". Not for Alan. His will look perfect. Bushog...Alan's got a guy that restores original Colt rubber grips from "new" down to extremely worn, depending what condition your gun is in so they match perfectly.

Ok, to catch up here. Turnbull will handle the color case and charcoal blue finishes on this project.
As per Harton: The grips are refinished by Don Furr in California. He restores original Colt grips. He molds on a new outside surface much like a retreaded tire. Inside of the grips remain untouched. He can repair broken, cracked or chipped grip panels and also has molds for the aged look if preferred.

For an update, we are waiting on the stocks to be restored. It should be known that the craftsmans that does this work suffered a death in the family. As soon as that gets sorted out we can get a picture of what a full on restore looks like.
