Thanks for the pics and description Glenn. It's nice to see the differences between builders and give us ideas about what to have done. Anybody have samples of his front sight work? I'm two years into my wait and the only things undecided are what kind of front sight I want and if I'm gonna spring for a moderate amount of engraving. I may have to send him another gun this spring. Maybe a 38-40 with a red dot base that dovetails into the barrel of a Vaquero... Like he did on he guns he built at Johns shop and He and John both still do, the ER head is hand checkered for a little more positive tactile feel. Dustin also does a beautiful Colt style crown on the barrels, much like a current FA or the like. Very classic and elegant look. You can see a standard Patridge Post style blade here. He does a really nice dovetail into the flat and puts a set screw in the front base within the dovetail. I've never had any of them move in 45s through 500s. Very nice sleek system that is aesthetically pleasing and doesn't appear "bulky" to my eyes. The Linebaugh's have always been ones to make working guns. My John L guns are very plain but the quintessential Linebaugh look when you see them, you know who made them. Same with Dustins. Once you know the subtle details, you can spot them a mile away. If your eyes were closed, and someone handed you one, you would know a Linebaugh gun from the feel of the gripframe after they rework it on these newer versions. My others feel completely different. One is the normal build from years ago, another was sent back for grips and Dustin did his mods on it. Much sleeker less blocky feel and the appearance is more refined. Hope these help on the front sight. Sorry if pics seem a bit blurry. I couldn't hold that dang camera still to save my life this am and didn't feel like setting up a tripod for a quick pic

Great detail Glenn, that might be the finest looking revolver I've ever seen, only thing for me would be adjustable sights. No way I could have a hunting gun without them, just me.

Beautiful revolver Glenn and fine pictures. It's evident that Dustin put many hours in to all these details and they add up to a superb Vaquero. I don't recall if anyone mentioned the finish of the stainless, but that also has a lot of time invested in it. I had a DL in my shop a while back and it too was very impressive.

I'm waiting (as patiently as possible) for my Stainless 475 Bisquero, 5 1/2" octagon and the Black Micarta grips. These photos show that it's worth the wait.

Glen I think I've read in previous posts of your that you didn't like the Bisley grip frame as much as say the FA grip. So the changes that were made by Dustin must be enough to fit your hand much better than a stock Bisley. Does he provide any relief from back of trigger guard to front of grip frame to help with middle finger getting bumped? . Have you had a chance to shoot them yet? Does the recontoured grip make it a lot easier to control recoil? I really like the look of the Vaquero but not sure about the fixed sights. Maybe it would make things more simple as far as having 1 or 2 loads that the revolver is regulated for. Sorry for all the questions. They are really are great revolvers. Thanks for starting this thread. Marshall

I'll check measurements. The recontoured grips I shoot fine and are extremely comfortable with the contour of the panels. A very subtle palm swell. I'll try and get a shot of the stocks from the back and you can maybe make out the profile. My issues with the Bisley frame is not an issue of room for hands etc, mine is how I hold a FA/SBH as compared to a Bisley. If you hold a Bisley tight and "drive" it from behind Straight on like an fA/SBH, the natural roll of the Bisley that works so well for recoil is directed directly to the webbing of my hand by my thumb and after a few cylinders, the nerves start trembling. So, I try not to mix the Bisley with those when I'm shooting so I can concentrate on a more "side" hold allowing it to roll. Then I'm fine and accuracy is great. Just my personal preference is the FA, I have probabaly 30K rounds through my FA 454s over the years and many more than that though the Supers and such so they just feel more natural and at home

I think a big part of Dustin over the other smiths is he literally grew up in a gunsmith shop, half of the house was mills and Bridgeports that dad made his guns with, it is simply in his blood. Dustin grew up with a Single Action Army 45 colt on his hip till he was 18 or 19 and he made his first Bisley Vaquero with his father (several years before Ruger offered them) that remains on his hip today that he has amazing skill with as evidenced with a Grizzly kill at 176 yards off hand with that 475 Linebaugh, truly is a extension of his hand as they say. He just knows how to make a gun right, to tune the action just so, to get a sight picture that is perfect, to make it shoot little groups if you do your part. I dont know if he could machine anything else, put him in a aerospace machine shop and I suspect he would be completely lost for a long while but he mills those front sights from scratch, and they are just right. He is just talented, his grips are simply marvelous and feel very distinctive, if you grab one of his custom grips you know its his just by the shape. You just have to be willing to pay for the gun when your turn comes up and enjoy the gun for the rest of your days...

I have never handled a Bowen, Harton, Gallagher, John or Dustin Linebaugh or Jack Huntington custom revolver but have been that oddball that can sit for hours and look at custom sixguns and look at the way they flow etc.... most I would not identify on sight but I have to agree with you as far as visual enhancements Dustin Linebaugh does..... his revolvers have a characteristic look which is the way he does things. AND HE DOES THEM WELL!!

All that for fixed sights?! Paleease! JUST KIDDING!! Nice job in showing the small details. Especially the ERH blend. If you REALLY want to know your sixgun, pick a load and shoot 1000-2000 rounds. See what you know after.

Yep, I don't mess with handgun loads much. I find one I like and works and usually just load a bunch and shoot it. Especially with fixed sight set up. Load your favorite, tweak it to shoot to POA and run with it. The fixed sight Vaqueros are darn near bullet proof. Perfect hunting guns. Especially with the rear sight insert like pictured on page one. Simpler the better!

Wow, just... wow! I really had no idea... Seriously, thank you for posting the pics and for your description, Glenn. I think I just found my grail gun.
FWIW, I gave my Bowen a once-over this morning in preparation for opening day. It's no show piece, but makes any box-stock Blackhawk seem rough and rattly. Everything on that gun is smooth and positive in its fit and function. Tight and right. But that gun by Dustin... whoa! Easily a couple steps up on the ladder fo-sho.
