I realize that in our ideal minds that a manf lemon should never happen and having to send something back multiple times is poor. But to Ruger's credit, I'm not sure how many companies would do a return/exchange(for a more $$$ model right). Idk the more I read about ruger, the more I like them.

Oh lemons are going to happen alright; it is the aggravation of multiple trips back, with no resolution, that burns. It sounds like QD is eventually going to get satisfaction from Ruger and I'm glad to hear that.

Yeah, the fact that it had an issue is fine. That happens. But having it sent back 3 times with the error not corrected is not okay with me.
As for it being a more expensive model... Not really. These Bisley exclusives are pretty pricey and while I will admit the SRH is a little more expensive, not by much from what I've seen. They are within $100 of one another.
And again, I am happy with Ruger's response. They are taking the issue seriously and have moved to a resolution in a very fast manner.

Hope that everything works out in the end and I really do hope that the issues at Ruger get resolved as well. As it stands, I'm going to be behind the ball on new offerings. I'm not ordering one because if it has issues I feel obligated to take it and deal with Ruger myself rather than refusing to buy it. If I want something, I'll wait till I can find one in stock somewhere and inspect it before buying.
I hope that my 454 is good to go now. I haven't shot it since getting it back for the 3rd time. I kept my end of the agreement by buying 2 like I said I would in the recurring threads over the years asking Ruger to make a 5 shot. But I've pretty much lost interest in them after the issues and the fact that it's stainless.

Go for a refund. I am a lifelong Ruger fan but there business practice of allowing the consumer to discover the defects instead of their own QC has gotten ridiculous.

I'm glad to hear Ruger is willing to resolve this in Quickdraw's favor in a way. Your patience with this situation is commendable as was Tek's when he was going through the same. These things (QC issues) happen much more frequently than back in the days of hands on final fitting of all the bits and pieces. I'm just amazed that Ruger and other high volume makers can even keep up with current demand. And then you throw in all the different types and models of firearms that Ruger builds it is even more amazing.

It still doesn't give them a blank check to send out defective firearms on a continuing basis. They should be ashamed of their return rate.

I learned a long time ago that most employees don't get up in the morning with the intention to make mistakes or bad decisions in a given day. I don't believe that the issues some Ruger buyers have had, as frustrating as they are to the buyer, represents the quality of Rugers firearms in it's entirety. In most instances when you buy a Ruger you are getting a lot of gun for your money. No one wants a lemon, especially 3 or 4 times in a row but even at that I don't think very many folks thinks that Ruger was given a blank check to fail their customers. I'm sure it's just as embarrassing to Ruger to have these problems as it is frustrating for the customer with the problem. This of course is just my opinion.

The odds of getting lightning struck are pretty small too but it still hurts like hell if you're the lucky winner.

That's true but if you are struck by lightning and live to tell about it are you gonna complain about how much it hurt or move on with your life and live each day to its fullest? I think Quick Draw, Tek and others here that have been stung by the rare Ruger lemon wasp have shown perseverance, patience, maturity and wisdom in their responses. Class acts in my book.

What I mean sir, is that although these folks have gotten lemons from Ruger, they have kept a relatively positive attitude through an aggravating situation. Choosing to do all they could on their part without turning into raging, complaining lunatics that are so prevalent in today's world. Your analogy of being struck by lightning is appropriate in this case because the odds of being struck are very slim. Same as odds of getting a factory fresh lemon from Ruger. And if I were literally struck by lightning and lived through it I think I would have a much more appreciative and grateful attitude for life. I hope this helps. I am not trying to be condescending or mean spirited toward you or others. I just try the best I can to see the positives in a situation rather than negative.

I've had three in 30 years, from a half-dozen new Rugers. My older brother has had two duds, in about that many. That was not about 'attitude' because as usual, I was just oozing positive vibes at getting a new gun. Positive thinking is a great thing but if you go to the same street corner and get mugged half the time, you're assisting the muggers.
Believe me, nobody wanted the 454/480 SA's to be great anymore than I did. Hopefully they'll get there.
Edited to add: Oddly I have never had a bad used Ruger, but I check them over like the wares of a street vendor. That sees to be working for me and when something works, I don't fix it.

Got my SRH in on Friday. Looks good, shoots nice... but has brass casings sticking hard in the cylinder. Motherfu... So those were handloads, to be fair. So I'm heading to an indoor range right now with box of Hornady ammo. But God help Ruger if those stick! I will be spitting-acid angry!
