Ok, most of my life on or around farms and I never heard of a "cooter." Up here in the Ozarks, what do I know that as? A mud slider turtle.

Still looking for a light target load for my Henry BBS that will put 5 shots into a 1” group at 25 yards. Tried some Bullseye and Red Dot today but came up short…

If that 6.3 load wouldn't have had that flyer I would say you got it. I would re-shoot that one just to see.

May not be what you are looking for but my Henry BB likes the Accurate 45-250P on top of 20gr of 4227 with a Federal 150 primer. Average fps with this load is 1217. Soft shooting and accurate.

I’ve just started testing some hunting loads at 50 yards w/ XTPs and IMR4227 did turn in a couple of acceptable group near the minimum charge weight 👍.

Shot my 9.3x74 double rifle with 6 different loads, slowly narrowing down a load that will give me a 3” pairing at 100 yards. It still kills stuff with two different loads in each barrel, I just want one good load that will be useable in both barrels. Also shot my 414sm JRH Ruger Max, with a .411 bullet meant for 405win. 300gr. Hornady bullet, 1350+ fps and 2.5” accuracy at 100 yards. Just shot 3 for group and three for chrono but it’s promising. Further research will take place, as the Hawk bullets at 270gr. have left me underwhelmed, with core separation and core slippage. My use of H110 in the gun has proven out what Lee has mentioned about the tall powder column being inconsistent in burn and producing erratic results, my most distinguished showing being in bullet placement on target. Then primer flattening showing up on those rounds with errant flyers. I’ve switched to H4227, and seeing slightly less velocity but much more consistent pressure signs and no flyers. The less velocity being 50 or so fps, not enough to warrant a sight change.

Trapr Really thinking about having a set of 9.3×74R barrels made for my double, but sending it back to Rigby would be a paperwork nightmare and very expensive. Might have to find a good US smith.

I have good loads worked up for all 4 of them. The first one took 6 months and seemingly no end of loads but I finally got it, by golly!!

Tried some 180 gr cast with 2400 in the 300 Whisper. NOPE didn't like those at all . Added some 44 special with the flat top, then threw in some .22 single Six and the Single shot Cricket for fun. Beautiful day today in KY, people mowing grass already.

Shot my Cimarron Model 1885 Hi-Wall with some test loads using paper patch bullets from Montana Precision Swaging. Looks like I got everything right - they shot well. After pushing out the unburned kernels of Accurate 5744 from the barrel it was spotless, no leading at all (checked with a bore scope!). I'll probably switch to IMR 4198, need what little Accurate 5744 I have for my Cimarron 1876 lever action. Bullet: Montana Precision Swaging 250 gr. RN (paper-patch/.381/Lee Alox) Powder: 18.0 grs. Accurate 5744 Primer: Winchester Large Rife Case: Winchester OAL: 2.530 Comments: Unsized cases belled with RCBS .379 expander plug. Used 20lb. Bond Printer Paper (.0035 thick). Bullets sized with Lee .380 Bullet Sizer Die. A loaded round. I haven't shot this rifle in years and couldn't remember what distance was last fired. Decided to shoot at the indoor range for initial testing to avoid wasting ammo getting on target. Next I'll load up 40 more and test at 100 yards. I'm surprised I grouped this well, it was a little dim at the range, I should have used a different aperture with the globe front sight. Really out of practice! Seven shots at 30 yards.

Good to see someone else uses good ol' SR-4756. I use it and SR-7625. I'd hate to have to live on the difference between them.
Ok, what I SHOT today. Beautiful afternoon, if a little breezy with a nasty east wind. I drug out my Haenel/Rasch in 9 X 57 and my Husqvarna 146, (I think), in 9.3 X 57 and proceeded to slay my 100 yard steel, buffalo target and my 80 yard swinger/dinger, offhand. Cast bullets in both and IMR 4064 in one and IMR-3031 in the other. There's just sumthin' fun about whackin' those heavy, steel targets with cast bullets....even at 71 I'm not tired of it!
