Shot the Uberti 1885 replica for 2nd place in our club's 312 yard Buffalo match. The photo is of my effort. 1st was won with another Uberti 1885 replica very similar to mine.

Two rifles I haven't got to spend much time with are both Haenel 1890's. On is a Haenel/Rasch in 9 X 57 and the other is a Haenel in 8 X 57, .318 groove diameter. This is going to be our nicest day for a while so I hauled them both to my bench and proceeded to whale away at the various steel targets I have made over the years. Nothing spectacular, no group shooting, just offhand fun banging steel. I'll have to check for pictures....I don't think I have many of one and none of the other! Ahhhh, ok. The Haenel/Rasch in 9 X 57 is the bottom rifle in the top picture and the top rifle in the bottom picture. The other rifle is a Wilhelm Brenneke in 7 X 64 Brenneke. It is a sweetheart. I sold it at auction a year ago come April. Attachments:

That's a surprise. I obviously hit that picture by mistake. We loved him too. That's a picture taken the day we brought Buck home from the shelter. He was pretty scroungy then. We lost him about 4 years ago and he was the gentlest giant we've had. When he barked, the neighbors window rattled....and they're 1/4 mile away!! If he could have, he would have nursed my wife back to health after her brain tumor. It certainly wasn't because he didn't try.
Here's a couple of him after we'd had him a couple years. Hmmmm.....I can't seem to add them this morning. Says File is too big.
Found another. Lemme see if it goes. Nope. I don't know what's up, they load every place else.

45 Colt Matts 315gr WFN 1.635" OAL HS-6 13 gr Chrono @ 1050 fps average ES 23. This load I crimped in the first crimp groove with a Lee Collet die as the crimp groove is rather small. Matts 280gr 452-270-SAA crimped in crimp groove HS-6 13.5 gr Chrono @ 1110 fps average ES 39 accuracy is about as good as I can shoot at 40 yards with open sights 4" average with both loads. I fired 100 rounds of both I have to admit thats about my limit. I aslo took 50 rounds of the 315gr loaded with 22 gr of H110 same OAL as above, but did not shoot as it was starting to rain. Shot out of a work in progress Ruger 5.5" Blackhawk converted to Bisley. Chambers are .481" throats reamed .453" What I took away is I need to dry fire more, as well as live fire. I know I am getting old but man my shooting has declined a lot.

Our snow has melted and it was in the 50’s today so I was off to the range for the first time this year. I took a big guy and a little guy. Mountain Gun in 45 Colt and a Model 63 3” 22LR. I did get this group at 7 yds with the 63 shooting Fed AutoMatch.

I am sure you can see the grip frame has not been fitted, it drives my buddy crazy so I may never fit it. I have stoned the hammer and polished the trigger. Just purchased a stainless ERH to finish out the stainless parts. This is my working gun, so I am not very interested in looks with it. I just bougt another 45 Colt Blackhawk with a 7.5" barrel, I am going to change the grip frame to a Super Blackhawk hunter with a SBH hammer. If I end up not liking the grip frame I have an extra Bisley to fit to it. Purchased a 7.5" Redhawk 45 Colt barrel that I am going to try to have fit to it. It looks like a project so not looking to have it complete anytime soon.

Took out my new Winchester 73 and USFA Single Action (both are 44-40s) to the indoor range today. I was a little worried my bullets would be undersize (I've heard the Miroku 73's have .430 bores) but they shot fairly well and left no leading at all. Still need to drift the front sight a little to get the windage corrected. Bullet: Suter’s Choice 200 gr. RNFP (.428) Powder: IMR Trail Boss 6.1 grs. Primer: Winchester Large Pistol Case: Winchester 44-40 Glad I've still got some Trail Boss left... apparently, it's unobtanium! Ten shots at 20 yards after drifting the front sight.

Got out with a couple friends today. One just bought a Garmin Xero C1. I was really impressed. Worked exactly as advertised, never missed a shot, and we chronoed about 200 rounds over five hours using maybe 25% of the battery charge. It is worth every penny in my opinion. Sure beats my old skyscreens... Pulled out my old flattop and the NM .41 I recently picked up. Fermin fixed me up with the new rear sight, and this was my first trip shooting since he fixed the tight throats. I couldn't squeeze any better groups, but the barrel leading is gone. Very happy that is a thing of the past. Too much fun was had with these sixguns. Since it was sorta an old school day added in my JM Marlin guide gun and Ruger Marlin .357. We went head to head on the steel dueling tree, but the 45-70 was a guaranteed loser. The 405s smacked the plates hard enough to rotate back to their original position. Same story with the plate rack but it was great to see the horsepower on display. The 357 was really excellent. Quick handling and the extra velocity out of the carbine length barrel smacked with authority. Only disappointment was I should have brought more than 300 rounds. Almost enough to last till sunset. I'll improve on that next trip. Been lurking for years - love the site you guys have a lot of fun. Hope to add to the experience-

I shot my BOWEN Super Redhawk .475 a few times this morning just to be able to say that I did! It was approximately -45F. It had warmed up a little since I got up at 0600. I think it bottomed out at -50 - - I have been casting bullets from 3 different .475 molds that I have, testing loads. Serious testing will be when it warms up a little!! I will be be doing a fly out expedition for a big brown bear this spring with a long time friend and hunting partner! We did our first fly out trip together about 47 years ago. We both got nice Mountain Goats with our .44 revolvers. He is one of the SHOOTISTS that meets every year in Raton, NM. He will be using his well blooded Freedom .454 and I will be using this new Bowen .475. I have always used the .44 for everything , it works great for big bears, moose, etc. I basically just wanted to use something different. My friend says that the real reason that I am using the .475 is that I can’t run as fast as I use to!! Bob Attachments:

Did a little fine windage adjustment on the rear sight of my Tom Horn 1876. Just about have it sighted in perfectly at 30 yards, need to test it at 100 when the weather gets better. Five shot group. Bullet: GT Bullets 325gr FN (.458/GT Lube/Hornady GC/96-2-2) Powder: IMR Trail Boss 13.0 grs. Primer: Federal 210 Case: Starline Converted 45-70 Government OAL: 2.230 Avg. Vel.: 1106 fps ES: 41 SD: 15 Prefer XMR 5744 for hunting, saving what I have for deer season. Saw some for sale at my LGS for $73 per pound - I passed!
