The non bisley bisley on my new rest. I'd been leery about the price but that was unwarranted. What is the name of this rest?

Ransom multi caliber. 200 dollars and worth it. I could have accomplished near that with hardwood but the true value of the rest is impressive.

Getting re-acquainted with the 222 Remington. bought it back in college from the estate of a gentleman who hunted groundhogs at the farm, barrel code indicates it was made in 1963 (bolt is unjeweled and receiver is factory drilled and tapped for a receiver sight). It came with a cheap Simmons 6-24x50, which at the time (2008) was $64, it actually worked fairly well out to 12X if the light was good. I threw a fine reticule Leopold 2-7x33 and took it back out for a spin today, 43 degrees, foggy, overcast and rainy. The tightest groups were a 50 grain Sierra Blitz over 22 grains H322 capped with a Rem 7 1/2 BR primer in Winchester cases, loaded on old Lyman 310 dies (neck size) The slightly larger (.7”) group was the same Bullet over 20 grains IMR 4198. Trying out some Starline brass that will be here this week, contemplating a set of Redding type S full length Bushing dies since my friends at CH aren’t makin em any longer.

That revolver in my avatar is my Model 97 Freedom Arms in 45 Colt. Just to feel recoil, pull a trigger and hear a firearm go bang, I grabbed it and 4 rounds and retired to my shooting bench. I sat down, took a good rest, sighted down on my 100 yard steel target and promptly put all 4 rounds on steel. That felt pretty good so I went in the house and took my 1890 Haenel out of the safe, loaded 3 rounds into the en bloc clip and went back to the bench. This old rifle has a Lyman 36 aperture sight so no bench and no rest, offhand or not at all. Three more cast bullet whacked that ol' 100 yard steel target. I was going to shoot some more but the doggy beauty parlor called and said Steel was ready to go home. Steele:

First group out of a new to me ROA. Subsequent groups only got better. 30gr FFg Goex, felt wad, .457" lead round ball topped with bore butter. This is a load I have used successfully in a blue ROA. It was developed out of necessity when I was out of FFFg.

Sighted in a 2x scope that I installed on my S&W 29-5 Classic. 6 shots on our 16" gong at 72 yards. I'm happy with it. Also did a bunch of plinking at the same distance with my OM Super Single Six 5.5" (1971).

My son and I went to a friends and shot some yesterday. The weather went back and forth between misting rain to little ice balls. Several rifles from my 6.5x55 Swede with peep sights to 7mm Express Rem, 260 Rem, AR 223, CZ.22. Pistols from .22, .44 special, .300 Whisper, 7-30 Waters, .218 Bee. Friend just had neck surgery so couldn't shoot. Had a good visit after shooting and did a little trouble shooting on his Mec shotgun shell loader. A well spent day!

I shot some 45 Colt out of Ruger single actions. My favorite fun shoot load is 6 gr Red Dot behind my cast 288gr MP 270SAA bullet. Powder coated. The solids and pentas shoot great.Depending on the gun this load runs 785-825. Just fun. I shoot at East Texas Rifle and Pistol Club. ETRPC. Its a nice place. I did todays efforts on the handgun steel range. Had it all to myself.

Happy New Years you guys! Got in a little range time today with my old Beretta Stampede .45 Colt. It shoots high with 250 grain bullets but 200 grain bullets are spot on. Only got a few hundred of these bullets left - I got them for use in my S&W 625 but they shoot well in the .45 Colt too! All groups shot at 30 feet off-hand. Gun: Beretta Stampede 7 ½ Inch Barrel Bullet: Hornady 185gr. Z-Max FTX (with cannelure) Powder: Accurate #5 11.1 grs. Primer: Winchester Large Pistol Case: Magtech .45 Colt OAL: 1.650
